I get the phantom wipes occasionally, however, one "feature" (or bug) that I absolutely can't stand is that my windshield wiper reverts to "AUTO" every time I engage FSD and then turn it off. Then it startles me when it "dry wipes" when I'm not expecting it. It seems to me that this would be very easy to fix in a software update but perhaps it just got overlooked as I cannot see ANY reason for this to persist after FSD has been disengaged.
Yes-it SHOULD REVERT to the last saved setting after FSD disengagement! 🙋🏻‍♂️

I ask Grok, it said use voice command to turn viper off right after you turn on FSD. It wipes in a cloudy day, thinking the view need to be clear. Safety built-in feature. I normally check and clean the front camera area only before drive off.

“Wiper Off.” The official Cybertruck slogan for those of us with FSD. You could see them off in the distance talking to each other, they were saying one phrase over and over but in slightly different inflections and emphasises: “Wiper Off.” “Wiper Off?” “Wiper Off.” “Wiiiper Off.” “Wiper Off.” “Wiper Off!” 📐

Also I’ve had good results with a nice cleaning and Rain-X application monthly

I just assume it does so for FSD purposes. I wish ALL the cameras had a little wiper or something to keep them clean so I dont have to costly go around the truck cleaning them.

I just accept that a car with FSD will self wipe. Doesnt bug me anymore.

Good thing FSD subscription comes with Tesla shipping you a new wiper every 60 days......at least they should.
I'm still on my first wiper, two years after taking delivery and it still clears the frequent rain we get in the PNW perfectly with one small exception. There is a tiny (miniscule) notch cut into one edge, which means it predictably leaves a tiny, very thin, line in one direction about the width of a very light test fishing leader. I would just replace the blade but the line clears every time the wiper sweeps the other way. There is no smearing or other signs that all the dry wipes that happened in the first year+ after launch have had any negative effects on wiper performance.

I feel ya. Wipers in the age of Rain-X are super annoying.
In the "age of Rain-X"?

Did you know that Rain-X was first sold in the early 1970's? I tried it back in the early 1980's. At first I thought it was amazing! Then it got all smeary as it aged. I tried reapplying it but realized I had to strip the old Rain-X first, to get the best results. That was all I needed to know to understand it was not for me. I don't have time to always be stripping/applying it.

You don’t need to strip it, it just needs to be applied to a clean windshield. So clean it first with whatever, then apply Rain-X. The visibility gain in hard rain is worth it, also you don’t even need to use your wipers.
