Powder coating stock wheels

Has anyone powder coated their stock wheels yet? I don't use the wheel covers and like the stock wheel look but they scratch easily and aren't the easiest to clean. I was thinking of powder coating a stain black to help with this. Curious if anyone else has done this yet.

I have powder coated all of the wheels on every one of my Teslas except for the cyber truck. What I normally do is a gloss black. I did a satin black on my FJ but I can’t figure out a way to improve the finish on the stock cyber wheels. Shiny will not be an improvement (imo), changing the color just doesn’t interest me (although I could see bronze looking pretty good).

Powder coating is great just find a good shop and customize until your heart is content. Here’s what my wheels look like on my S and my MP3 before that:

The plastic center cap on the M3P was spray painted gloss black to match the finish.

It doesn’t read well in this photo, but the center caps on my S Plaid are matte carbon fiber. That matches the rear diffuser, front splitter and side mirror caps that I have added as well … and, of course, the OEM spoiler.

The stock core wheels I noticed have a ‘coarse’ finish.. makes me wonder what exactly the finish is..

I was lucky that the covers did not scratch them at delivery, but I also wonder how this finish would hold up to many on/off installs of the covers.

I think they would also look even better with a proper powder coat..

Did they do your center caps also? With a matching paint? Looking at the photo a bit more closely they seem to be just a touch darker than the wheels.

I think there are a couple of folks who make those in aluminum which could be powder coated to match your wheels exactly if you wanted to go that route.

Yes, they matched the caps the best they could, as plastics must be sprayed.
