One of the reasons I purchased the Foundation Series was to get it before Hurricane season was here.
I justified it by thinking it was 9 powerwalls of backup power in the event of an extended power outage.
I was told that since I already have Tesla Solar with Tesla powerwalls, there would be no hardware needed to activate powershare from my cybertruck.
I was told it would just be an "over the air" update to activate it.
I thought "perfect"!

Well....now that I have had the truck for a month AND since I have two tropical storms headed my direction, does anyone know why it is taking so long to get this update to us?

I have emailed Tesla and they tell me it is an engineering issue where we need to be added to the approval list for PowerShare. I have had my CT for almost 6 months and nothing yet despite having all the latest software on the gateway, v3 charger and CT.

it is frustrating.

I'll be in the same situation once my CT arrives. The CT should act as a battery capacity boost and nothing more once powershare is enabled. The powerwalls make the nearly-instant switch to backup power during an event and the CT will tap in as additional capacity at some point thereafter. From what I've read regarding powershare without powerwalls, it can be a minute or two before power from the CT kicks in following an outage.

Same here, after being passed around to multiple different departments at Tesla, all I was able to get is that there is some backlog of adding VINs to some PowerShare database.

I have Tesla solar and 2 Powerwall+. My electrician installing the universal charger hookup to the gateway said he was told by Tesla around December would be the update. Don't know how accurate that is... :cautious:

Yes...Quite Frustrating. For me, this is more important than AP or FSD.

But this is different to the main issue being discussed here right, for Powershare working for those of us with Powerwalls? I ask, because my understanding was we just have to wait for an undetermined amount of time for Tesla to release an update, or am I wrong?

As for installers having an insight into the timeframe, I'd take that with a huge pinch of salt. I've seen and heard the comms they're getting from Tesla, in terms of training and general guidelines, and it is bare-bones; Tesla have thrown this over the wall for everyone else to figure it out. It's getting frustrating, the two main features, FSD & Powershare, still not being available for those us that ponied up the Foundation tax.

I have existing Tesla Solar and Powerwalls and Universal Wall Connector. I got an email months ago that I have everything that is needed for PowerShare to function. I called to inquire about what is needed to get it enabled and they told me that its a matter of them addressing the backlog. Could the employee be wrong? Absolutely, wouldnt be the first time their people were ill-advised.

Maybe we'll get the update around the same time as FSD......

I'm getting my universal charger installed next week. From what I've seen and read from the non-PW folks with PS, it doesn't seem like the universal charger needs a software update too, or could we be waiting for that as well?
