At long last PGE approved and final install will be done soon! Interestingly the backup switch will be replaced with a newer model that will fail over faster. Only took about a year!

I got the notice that Piwershare with solar and backup generator was ready, and Tesla sent me a note to that effect. I also finally got the control to show up, but it wasn’t working, so I contacted Willow Glen and they came out. Sure enough it wasn’t working, so they got on the phone with Tesla Energy. Eventually we were able to get the PowerShare to work, but it has to be engaged (and disengaged) manually from the app. Tesla Energy said that Powershare with islanding (any alternate power source) isn’t working, no matter what anyone says. So is yours working automatically now or are you in the same boat as me?

Oh, sorry, I thought you were all set up now.

my setup is:

- non Tesla solar array
- Generac whole home backup generator and transfer switch (downstream of gateway)
- Tesla gateway V3
- Tesla UWC configured for PowerShare

my disconnect from the grid is now technically my transfer switch but the gateway doesn’t automatically switch to the Cybertruck When the grid breaker is tripped.

Just amazed I have been waiting about a year for this thing to get all wired up and still no clue when it will be. ?. I have non Tesla solar and no other backup generator.

There shouldn’t really be a difference between the 2 setups other than the fact that I have a transfer switch and you probably don’t.

Did PGE install your backup switch?
No, they didn’t. I had a local electrician do all the work enumerated below and PG&E was only directly involved with increasing the electric service, which they inspected and approved. The county inspected and approved everything else. We did all of this in several projects and PG&E permits and county permits were required several times. When PG&E came to inspect the transfer switch was already in place.

- installation of first WC
- installation of backup generator and transfer switch
- upgrade of electrical service
- installation of second WC
- installation of gateway
