I really think the airstreams are going to quickly gain even more popularity. They have the bare metal thing going on. They are lightweight and they exist currently and in many sizes.

For those worried about the vault is not well insulated enough to sleep then you could easily build an insulated sleep pod that you could slide yourself into from the hatch under the rear seats. Then there would still be lots of room around the pod for storage of your gear.

Yes they look perfect for the CT.

but for those of us not wanting to tow something and keep the stealth aspect keep it all inside.

I want to be able to park anywhere and nobody would know someone is sleeping in there

how much room will be under the rear passenger seats I wonder? Has this info been released?

will it be possible to slide into the vault from under the rear seats? Or will it be necessary to remove the rear seats altogether?

The middle seat in the front row has now been changed into a padded storage box armrest type of thing.

I hope it will be possible to sit on this facing backwards to use the kitchen boxes that I will make to go on the rear seats.
Your head will be at the highest point of the CT in the cab so it will work well.

what will it be like in practice I wonder?

We don't know exactly what the center console is, as no one has taken photos specifically of it in its different modes. It just doesn't seem to be a seat. šŸ™

We do know the back seats lift up and fold against the back wall, giving an open flat floor. They demonstrated that at Investor Day.

And remember, the back wall is slanted so the bottom is nearer the front than the top.

thanks Crissa

Do you think it will be difficult to cut an access hatch in the bulkhead to get to the vault from the cab?

what do you think about a kitchen type of thing along the rear seats either folding it upor keeping it there

The access, if any, will be cat-door sized, based upon the bulkhead seen in the body in white photograph.

Alterations to Tesla vehicles are numerous but also difficult.

We'll see what people can do. You'd need some angled reinforcement behind the seats. I think it might be easier to add some drawer rails along the flooring - Munro's teardown will be essential to know where you can put anchors.

I can't wait to see what people do.

I donā€™t want to complicate things, it would be very simple and easy to cut a hole in the bulkhead to be able to climb through to the vault from the cab

Hahahaha I was thinking about a longer hole for two people to slide through at the same time with a nice double bed in the vault.

if itā€™s too troublesome to cut through the bulkhead then I wonder about the glass above it? Either cut an opening or somehow have the entire thing opening or removable? Wouldnā€™t be a security problem as long as the vault is always closed.

Im just thinking Of a way to access the double bed in the vault without having to go outside if itā€™s raining and also to keep stealth if you donā€™t want anyone to know you are sleeping in there

Iā€™m sure itā€™s possible to remove the back seat and even remove the entire bulkhead and glass panel above it?

you Would then have a large living space and could design nice kitchen and worksurfaces with all mod cons

Before everyone gets @Onadorinlooper too excited, keep in mind that the tonneau cover runs through that same back wall. As people have said, it would be easy to cut holes in the wall. I'd wait till Sandy showed us what was entirely in the wall before trying though. And unless one wants a similar sized hole in the tonneau cover over the bed, you will want to have the tonneau closed before any cutting begins. Plus, keep in mind that if you leave anything spanning inside the hole and then open the tonneau either the tonneau is going to have problems or the item in the span is going to get cut. Try not to have it be anyone's neck.
