Cold AF here in Colorado so snow is fluffy, no issues with lights as of yet! Tailgate has frozen shut - but opening the cover freed it! Frunk was ice'd shut (at the top) and I had to scrape it hard to get it to open and then close...so definately some winter challenges.

I bought CybertruckCo Baja Designs 2 lights kit for the front (plus the wide lense covers from Baja Designs)...but just got them and not installing in negative temps..maybe this weekend and can report if a valid emergency work around for the headlights being blocked!

(Video + photo). Welp, I love my CT for 97% of the time. But I have all but given up on it as a winter vehicle. For the last week, my tailgate, tonneau and my frunk are all frozen shut. I tried a hammer and chisel but I its just too risky if I missed and hit the lights or scratch my 3m wrap

The worst part is the ice on the lights. I can not drive at night way too often. When snow melts, it accumulates on the lights. Or I defrost my truck, the streams melt down to the bumper and build an ice dam. The other evening I had some one signal my lights aren't on :-( (they were, just covered in ice)

I'm taking unusual steps to keep my lights clear - but a short drive to the market in 10degrees (f) and Im just an eager beaver creating a ice dam.

I love how the truck drives, FSD is so good. My truck bricked once and stranded me, it makes so many squeaks etc, but Im good with it. But I am really bummed out about the lights being covered in snow and ice all the time.

(here come the fair weather folks to tell me to just "wipe it off "")

Here in coastal Alaska, we get conditions like this all winter long. With all my vehicles, an impressive amount of snow and ice builds up, and needs to be taken care of daily. It's all part of living here. I find that doing a good job of cleaning off the snow after it falls prevents the kind of ice build up you're seeing. Yes that is more work than just cleaning off the windshield, but it's part of living in such a snowy environment.

Not trying to say there is no issue here, just that this isn't unusual, and not unexpected. In my mind it's not a big deal. I just clear the snow and chip off the ice.

Yesterday I used my scraper to scrape off some ice that had built up on the front. It took 30 seconds. I drive at night almost every day (it gets dark at 3pm), and the headlights are doing great for me.

Today I opened the tailgate, couldn't even see the button because it was all covered in snow and ice. I brushed the snow/ice off, found the button, and the tailgate popped right open. Still havent had any issues opening the frunk nor tailgate.

Though I did decline to try the tonneau cover a few days ago because it was so clearly frozen up with ice I hadn't removed yet. ?‍♂

In my opinion … with a maxed super truck we shouldn’t be picking and scraping off ice over critical things like lights in order to drive to see .
Defrost should be one button on the truck and should defrost what’s needed to drive including lights as well as clear the rear view camera . You can’t be selling a super truck with FSD and multiple cameras etc and basic elements like snow and dirt clog them up … rear camera lights etc . Non sensical ….
