Took the CT on a drive to a local restaurant, when pulling into the parking lot a mom and dad with two little kids (Mabey 5yrs old) told the kids to turn around because a Cybertruck was coming.

The little kids turned around and as soon as they saw us freaked out and started waving! It was adorable so we waved back ?

My favorite reaction so far was from a 80-85 year old nun coming out of church. She said “ My goodness, I never thought I would live that long to see something that was in science fiction books from the 50’s”. and “ Where in Gods green earth are the door handles?”.

Here in OC SoCal people don’t even glance, too many CT around.
Same here. My former TRX would get more looks lol. I'm used to driving cars around that get attention and turn heads, so I may not be the best example. But in my Beast, no one even cares. Mine is even wrapped with 24s on it and honestly, people could care less. Just glad I love it !

The best interactions happen when I'm in the backcountry, far from crowds and people. People are genuinely interested in the Cybertruck.

That said, on Friday two kids knocked on the door to our cabin. I could see two respectful-looking boys about 9 or 10 years old standing on my porch. When I opened the door one of them said, "Sick truck!" in a bigger than life way, with eyes wide open. I said, "Thanks, yeah, it really is". They wanted to know where I got it and how much it cost. Only a shiny metal Cybertruck could get two 10-year-olds to knock on a complete stranger's door!

I too barely notice the ones with basic wraps, they seem to blend in more.
I drove mine down PCH and around South OC yesterday and got plenty of looks and waves.

The wrapped ones will get the more positive reactions though. When it was stainless (which was only a couple of times I drove it) I think people were more critical of it since so many people don't like that look. The majority of the CTs I see are stainless, so they look pretty dirty and not good.

Also, I just picked mine up from getting the wrap and wheels yesterday and went on a single drive to go to dinner at night, so I'm not totally sure yet how people will react. I only have 200 total miles on my truck too, so I'm probably also not the best person to provide feedback haha.

The good thing is since it's wrapped now, my family isn't as embarrassed to drive in it which is good ?

You're probably right - if you are in LA, the land of silicone boobs. People seem to love plastic in L.A. Plastic wrap wouldn't last 3 months in my usage.

Around here, the bare, uncoated metal gets tons of enthusiastic comments from strangers. And it's hard to take seriously the opinion of someone whose Cybertruck wears 22's with low profile tires.

It's PPF which lasts a lot longer.

To each their own, but the stainless was pretty terrible. Couldn't get it clean, inconsistent looking colored panels, fingerprints etc. the stock wheels look like something from an old 1990s vehicle, not a $100-120K truck. There's so many basic stainless specs driving around with the stock wheels and I'm happy they are happy with them. But to me, they look so bad. If you're happy with it, good for you!

Haha… my first day …. An old woman, probably 80, pulls up in her car and said “Oh my! Is that a space ship?” She immediately took out her phone and took photos then waved.

Some homeless man under the influence of something came over to my truck and asked "what planet are you from?" The reason it was great is that I don't think this was a joke.

My CT came with a registration sticker that is vertical on the edge of my front window, this is how the service center put it. Some guy said to me "do you always need to be the person that gets something first?" Then he said all the usual things about why he wouldn't get electric "need to charge all the time" and "can't go far" etc. Then he said "if i was still a state trooper, I'd write you a ticket right now for your sticker being the wrong way in your window." It was a truly miserable interaction.

Last longer than what? Not longer than the hard frickin' steel! It's still just plastic and will wear out quickly getting muddy and driving through brush, taking rock hits on the highway and exposed to the sun. That's what I hated about the fragile clear coat on my F-150, I had to cringe every time I drove on a road that was overgrown. The bare metal of the Cybertruck is proving to be impervious. Everytime I wash it after an excursion I'm amazed how nicely it cleans up.

It makes no sense to protect a hard, durable surface that requires no UV protection, with something soft and damage prone, especially when people like the sheen of the raw metal.

I'm not trying to convince you because it's personal preference, I'm just disagreeing with your view of what makes a good truck. A good truck to me is non-fussy and worry-free. And metal will always look better than plastic to me. I'd rather take the $6 thousand in cash and burn it in a fire pit. ?
