So it seems like if you opted for the power share you get a credit on your account (taxable)and if you opted not to you get a voucher.(non taxable)
Hmm, I don't remember seeing this selection/option. I just had credits showing up in the account and these can be spent at anytime in any amount - no need to spent it all at once.

Also, credits given by Tesla (or similar promotional credits) are not considered taxable income as they are treated as store credit/discount rather than direct income. If the credit could be converted to cash, that cash would count as income.

I recall something about how you want the $2500, I opted not to get the powershare and got an email with the one time use voucher. Did you by chance opt for the power share?

No I did not. At some point was considering to put it towards a power wall but not PowerShare. But now I am just using it towards whatever i “need” from the Tesla shop :)

I was not happy that it was 1 and done since most items I wanted were out of stock. However eventually they became available I too saw the tax shown on my order until I entered my voucher # then it disappeared, so I went back to my order and added a few little items.
