Tesla Cybertruck Radial Break in Windshield 1000004445
Very hard to photograph, but my Cybertruck has developed 3 radial cracks which form a complete circle around the windshield after a small crack appeared inside (no mark or damage to the outside surface) and I tried to get it filled. The glass repair guy immediately said I'd need a new windshield, but agreed to try to fill it. To do so, he needed to drill it, but as soon as he touched the glass with the drill, without applying any pressure, 3 radial cracks appeared. The repair guy says he's never seen anything like it.

We've ordered a replacement windshield ($2,600) which is expected to take a couple of weeks to arrive - obviously my fault for green lighting the repair.

Not sure what's holding it all in place - the pressure, I suppose - and we've been driving it since, though I wince every time I hit a pothole.

Anyone else have a windshield fail like this? Anyone get a random small crack on the inside surface of the glass?

Thanks for that - I'll ask them to examine the glazing when I take it in.

You hired a 3rd party instead of taking it in to Tesla for a warranty replacement?

Yes - I thought it was a ding from a stone - it wasn't until I got to the repair shop that we learned it wasn't on the outside, but solely on the inside. It didn't occur to me (or to the repairer) that it might be a glazing issue, or a flaw in the glass. Lesson learned.

Had the same thing happen to mine, replaced under warranty, posted it back in the summer

Had the same thing Tesla replaced said it was bad glazing. Circular cracks on the interior side only.
Taking the truck in Thursday - how did they determine it was the glazing? My service center defers glass work to 3rd parties - I spoke to the guy who will handle mine, and he said he has no way to determine this on the old glass, or new.

Well, some good news: after inspecting my windshield and determining there was no damage whatsoever to the outside which could have caused the initial crack, Tesla has agreed to replace the windshield under warranty.

I asked how they will be able to determine the new glass will be free of the same defect and was told they will examine it thoroughly, and that glazing issues should be apparent upon detailed inspection.

I'm very pleased.
