I received the invitation yesterday evening. Very unexpected.
Why?
I didnt place a pre-order until July 2020, I dont own any Tesla vehicles(yet), and by my reckoning going by reservation number (RN113604994) I was way down the line.

How many Foundation Edition are there? Have they really sold a massive number already?
OR
Are most folks passing on the Foundation Edition?

Totally torn, I don’t need or want the “extras” nor do I want to pay $100k + for a truck
At $80k it's a stretch, my expectation was $60-65k (not the $50k “original” price)…

BUT I am totally excited about getting one, however I would prefer to wait for the standard (non FE) edition, will I loose out by declining the invitation for the FE or is there a way to maintain my “place in line” for the standard AWD?

For $100k I’d much rather get the Beast than the FE AWD!

My nephew got an invite yesterday as well, and his reservation is similar. It makes you wonder if they are running out of FS interest. He's gonna pass and wait on the non FS, which is what it sounds like you should do as well. You don't have to do anything with the invite. You'll still be on the list.

Not sure when they'll switch to non-FS, but just remember, you ARE getting things for that extra $20k. For me, if was well worth it to get it sooner rather than later. Also, it's the safest truck and one of the safest vehicle out there, so if anything happens in between, you'd be appreciative.

It was still 4 years ago when you placed the reservation. So they aren’t really moving fast. But seems like there were less reservations in the after time of the first reveal in 2019. And the RNs are mixed with other Tesla products so it’s hard to know how many there really are.

If you want FSD I think it’s worth it. If not then maybe not worth it.

Received mine last night as well. RN1138. I'll be passing on it. Would like to have the truck without all the extra stuff I don't need. I have no problem driving myself around. So no FSD, Home something, Etching, Connectivity Etc.

Same here. Received my invitation in early March but I am waiting on the "regular" version, I don't want the extras and I have been driving Tesla's since 2019 so I want them to get the truck out of it's new production phase ( I had a very early M3 and it was a great car but not built like my 2022 M3P is). And when I was picking up my wife's new Y last month I asked and they said to just wait and your reservation will be held so no need to do anything.

I'm RES# RN 113187141
Got it a week or so ago. Also passing waiting for the non FS. 100k is just too much.
Even the $75k is too much but I sure want this truck.

I’m guessing most are passing on FS? Further thoughts on why I may go ahead.

First is how far down the line will I end up by passing? 1 year, 2 years? A lot can change… including MSRP, right now it shows June - July delivery and $99,990

Second is my age, at 60+ really cant put things off too long!

Third, wife said “go for it” - literally - however we are both not good with money.

4. Whats the worse can happen? - the worst outcome down the line if “stuff" goes bad is repo...

the expression “better to have loved and lost, than not have loved at all” comes to mind.

5. Insurance is a big hit $$$$ BUT not as bad as expected

However I’m not sacrificing my Charger or Challenger - so decisions!!
How much is the insurance?

Now more then ever with the $2500 shop credit for declining PowerShare. Regardless, this truck is nothing short of amazing and well worth the $100k+ price tag. Those who hold out may be disappointed to find out that Foundation pricing may end up sticking. After 1.5 months of driving this truck, I highly recommend you consider buying one now.

I got mine a week ago. I grabbed it. If you don't take Foundation Edition, you'll hace to buy FSD and that's at least half the $20k you're trying to save. Just bite the bullet, man; this is a one in a lifetime opportunity. I did.
BTW my reservation number was 11318...
So, just ahead of you by a week. Oh, last thing. They never stated a limit on FEs. So they'll keep this up until ever offer they make is refused and they have to put the trucks on the lot. And they'll sell these to first come basis. So I repeat: accepth the FS. "You'll thank me later".

My thinking (with such a high RN 117xxx) is exactly this… if they go through all the reservations, I could get it 2 years earlier… and FSD could get ALOT more expensive once they solve it or get closer and closer 12.5/12.6

Can't blame anyone for waiting the price is crazy high.....but besides the usual stuff...
I just talked to a friend considering FS or waiting as well...he just had an electrician come out to install a backup whole home generator $24,000....so unless you are truly "off the grid" or don't care if your house has power during an outage, that PowerShare thing is probably worth it (but my electrician wants to get rid of my old Pushmatic panel, so my PowerShare cost was about $7,500)
