Yesterday invited to order the foundation series, there must be many folks passing as they have already surpassed folks that were in line at 775,000 reservation holders
I did too. I had an order with my brother in law because he had a much lower RN and I needed a CT sooner than he did. He will cancel that order which was for a FS tri-motor beast and wait for a non-FS AWD to become available. I ordered a FS tri-motor beast on my RN. My RN is RN11352xxxx. His is 11276xxxx. Looks like they are trying to sell as many FS setups as quickly possible .

I skipped in December and I’m still waiting for the FS to end, maybe even a little longer so Tesla can get it’s shit together to be a well-oiled machine (so to speak) making CTs/CBs with varied options without too many issues before I place my order.

I was gleefully a guinea pig ? for the Model S initial release and I am still driving that car with 128k mi on it now. Looking forward to NOT being first in line for the growing pains for this vehicle launch, though. My Model S has only the rear view camera, no bumper sensors, and no auto fold for the side mirrors and i’ve been stuck with that config while they released FSD enabled hardware as standard and folding mirrors as standard, etc. There was no dual motor option when I bought mine so it is RWD.

I like to buy cars (and now trucks too I guess, lol) and keep them for a decade or more, run them into the ground and then trade up rather than trade up incrementally every 3 years like leases or frequent trade-ins. Makes it more affordable to really customize my ride and enjoy the mods and options.

Steer by wire and tri-motor with FSD and a proprietary Space X metal alloy are looking very good to me about now but I’m holding out for them dropping the $20k premium I would rather spend on wraps and accessories plus it gives 3rd parties time to develop more aftermarket product options as well.

So the wait continues…

FWIW.

Cheers, and thanks for the data point.
I think you'll have to buy the FSD if you want it. Just saying.

I don’t think anyone knows the truth about FSD and the foundation series do they? It will be capable of FSD, but does anyone know if the FS is actually giving FSD to the buyers? I gotta think so, but nothing has been clear yet

It hasn't been free on any base vehicle they sold, yet. You either have to pay monthly or buy it outright to use it. Except for the short time when they provided release 12 to everybody. I'm guessing they sold a bunch of FSD because of that. It's that much better than previous releases. I drive literally everywhere using FSD. Just kick it out sometimes to make a turn in the city when the traffic is really heavy. I'd say less that 50% of the time in city traffic, and never on the highway. I let it drive its on style. I let it pick it's lanes even though I don't agree with it. Strang thing is, I make as good "time" with it's driving as me. Don't pass it up. If you do wait, you have the option of paying by the month, and that may be what you want to do. If you keep a Tesla for 4 years FSD wil cost you $9600 at $200 per month, which was the last I heard was the price, but it may have changed. So breakeven is somewhere around 4 years. BUT they can change that rate at any time as its a month by month deal; no contract. Hope ths helps.

And this is one of the draws to pull the trigger on the FS (if FSD is included / paid for). It has cheap price for it as they solve for autonomy and get closer and closer

Indeed. But i’d rather get what i want for my upgrades instead of what Tesla picks for me and everyone else. I’m picky like that. If i get 20k of upgrades or even more that will be ok so long as they are exactly what I wanted instead of some I wanted and some I didn’t.

Cheers

The hope is that when I chose FSD with my original config in 2019 they will still honor that and allow me to pay a one time fee for the life of the vehicle rather than monthly but nobody knows for sure.

Cheers

Ya I totally get it.. my thought changed when the FS might actually come to my very high RN #. If I have the option to configure this fall for the FS, I have to really consider it.. if not, I am looking at late 2026/2027 before I get my truck - and I could really use the functionality now with my family and kids..
