V14.1.4 loading into our Model Y. More to follow.....

V13.2.9 ran better in the Y than our CT.
e.g. CT crosses double yellow on blind hair-pin turn were as the Y doesn't.
Hopefully V14 fixes that as I drive it daily.

You’re in for a treat. Haven’t tried it on the y but excellent in the x.

I think it's a step back in multiple areas over V13.

Speed control, decisiveness, braking are all much worse on V14...Also; yellow lights, right turns in general, and lane endings are really bad with V14.

The parking lot stuff is a big upgrade, but on the MS I've been driving I do not enjoy it more as a passenger on V13...especially the stabby braking checks it does when it thinks something is in the road. V14 has a ways to go for smoothness, comfort and confidence.

From FB and other groups it's 50/50 on people who like 14 more vs 13. I think many really hate the speed controls and random braking.

Well hopefully it gets better for you and the other 50% of people. Maybe as it gains more experience. I’m known to be a hopeless optimist so take what I say with a grain of salt, but in my opinion the model x has never been better since I started driving one in 2016. Largely because of v14. When I think about the leaps taken from ā€œenhanced autopilotā€ to this, 9 years actually doesn’t seem that unreasonable any more.

Whoa dude! I love it. I’ve had one instance of the sort of stabby tappy braking thing, but:

(1) I thought it was super mild (nothing like my grandma) I saw Chuck talking about it but after experiencing myself I think it’s much to do about nothing.

(2) I’ve watched it’s all problems today and yesterday that v13 could never negotiate.

Yeah. I don’t get how half of people think this is worse.
They are entitled to have an opinion of course.
I just think they are wrong. Lol

Today I had a ton of random stabs...the road had a bunch of pot holes patched...I assume the car kept thinking it was avoiding pot holes.

Also, it's insanely hesitant on right stop sign or redlight turns...even in Hurry...it jumps, slams on brakes, then jumps again.

I think I got very used to V13 (especially in my CT) being smooth and very predictable. V14 is not...it can change lanes in an instant or slam on brakes (especially for yellow lights, which is crazy because V13 handled them great).

People there and many here will absolutely dislike losing speed controls. It thinks a neighborhood SL today was 25, but it was 15. I could only disengage, because sloth wanted to stay around 23-24. It doesn't give you an option to go slower.

This is just a deal with releases early in the cycle. Often times there’s a step or two back. We might have very well behaved instances and others don’t. Did they said earlier though this is the worst it’s going to ever be from this point forward. If people are just grousing about smoothness- that’ll be dialed in before you know it!

It more human like exactly as advertised. You should see what it feels like in the passenger seat when my wife is driving. Lol
As for the speed controls, wholeheartedly agree. Tesla should not have taken that away.

They didn't take them away by choice. They flat out said they are just too difficult to program in with the NNs.

I agree things will smooth out, but for the many here pining on a new update....I don't think it's as great as the first version of 13 was coming from 12. There's some really bad ass things it can do, but it's really rough IMO...maybe it's just the MS I've been in, but I relax and get jarred by a sharp slam of the brake for every gross road in South Carolina...which is a lot.

I don’t think anybody’s going to be universally happy until they do a customizable profile or give us the dial back where we can control the speed, BUT, I will say this— I loved MMM, hurry is probably going to be my go to setting but when there’s cops around or you need to be a little bit more cautious I found chill (which was basically doing 2 miles above the post speed limit in a 35 for me) to be perfect!

That sucks. Sorry. I’ve driven it for less than an hour total now so maybe I just haven’t had a chance for it to piss me off yet.

I haven’t driven my wife’s x yet, so I’m in the same rig you are - 2023 Model S Plaid -and in my case it’s been mostly buttery smooth. I’m going to refer to it as a stutter than a stab and I experienced that one time and I understood why it was happening it was being a little bit hesitant coming out of a parking lot into fast moving traffic. It’s not a move that I’m particularly silky smooth with all the time myself and I don’t care sometimes I’ll get the timing wrong or somebody will do something unpredictable that’s just life.

I wonder if it has something to do with regional differences in driving. I’m genuinely curious as to the cause of discrepancies between our experiences.
