By 2035, IF cybercabs are going well AND if you can 'buy' one yourself, then it will be the end of MOST cars driven by humans...

I see where we could 'own' a Cybercab (or a few!), have them running around and giving rides to people to 'earn' money (to pay for the CC, charging, maintenance, etc.) but the 'owner' would be able to get 'priority' over it... So, if you have to commute, you put it into your calendar and it reserves it for you... If you want to go to the movies, you 'call' YOUR Cybercab (puts you at the top of the queue for that vehicle) and so on...

Basically, you would be buying a vehicle to drive you around and when you're not using it, it drives others around...

One car being used 40 hours a week or more is darn good, but 1 million of them? Not much need for anyone else to own a car... If the price is right...
From the perspective of living in a city or a suburb close to a city, sure. As long as all of the infrastructure is there and works, people will continue to not own cars (see NYC) otherwise- i do not think the average american will sacrifice the convenience, freedom, and really value of having their own personal vehicle, unless the cost is stupid low (uber, lyft, taxis, aside from short rides are not cheap) AND its available to them no matter where they are or when at a moments notice (like the personal vehicle is)

i think teslas vision for the societal future is very technocratic as one would expect. But as with Elysium- it isnt being built for everyone. In fact, most will not participate if they dont have to.

Do the seats all fold flat on the six seater for sleeping in the back? I have a 2018 P100D MX 5 seater and it's easier to sleep/camp in it than in the Cybertruck. Really tempted to get a new one while they are still available but I think I'm crazy...
No. They do not. In fact they don’t fold at all they slide forward and back and tilt. The seat structure is rigid.

The freedom and value of OWNING your own Cybercab is that YOU OWN IT! If you own it, that means YOU get to use (or not use) it whenever you want!

Sure, you may have to wait for it to drop off a 'fare'(if it already has one) before it comes to YOU, but that's likely not going to be a big deal for most people who only make 2-3 'rides' per day anyway... Even if you took it over for 10 rides, it's still YOURS if you bought it...

I look at it like I do FSD...

To me, FSD is just someone else driving me someplace I want to go... Just like a taxi, town car, uber, etc... Except it's MY vehicle and available to me when I want it...
Cybercab (ownership) will be the same except for the steering wheel and pedals...

If we can't trust someone else driving us (again, cab, uber, hired driver, etc.) then it's not for you...

If you MUST ALWAYS BE THE DRIVER, then don't get FSD or a Cybercab... BUT, if you trust bus drivers, airline pilots, cab drivers, ubers, etc., then it's really all just in your mindset...

Assuming that you have paid the $99 monthly FSD subscription fee, right?

Elon insists that a Cybercab will have no steering wheel or pedals -- the only way to operate it will be with FSD. And Elon also says that FSD is going subscription-only; no more one-time purchases.

So you may OWN the Cybercab hardware. But you may not OWN the software that is necessary to operate it. You may have to RENT the software on a month-to-month basis.

Honestly, if the CT line were to discontinued right now, it would make our CT more valuable... love it or hate it... there are plenty of people would like to own one at some point.... if Tesla stops CT production now, the used market would probably see a bump in term of pricing.

You and me both....I'm considering trading in my 2026 Model Y with 2k miles for a Model S. Expensive compliment to my Cybertruck
