Ok I have a long weekend over the 4th and I've been summoned to Great Falls MT for an all siblings meetup. There's 4 of us and we're scattered in 4 different states. Leaving from bout an hour North of San Diego. Both Tesla and A Better Route Planner peg it at about 17 hrs driving and 4 hrs charging.

Cyber Beast VIN in the 8000's Currently has 2500 miles. 3 drivers, Myself and my 20 yo twins so we're shooting for non stop drive. My sister in law who was traumatized by an early Nissan Leaf is convinced we will need a tow or a firetruck somewhere along the route.

I'll try to document the trip here but am fielding any questions or suggestions for the voyage..

We have a 2016 X with autopilot and free supercharging so there was a bit of discussion on vehicle choice but 'cmon... what would you do??

Fun! Cybertruck road trips are the best. No autopilot was a pain but it’s also a joy to drive so there’s that at least.

Made it. Took about 4 hrs and a day... last 20 miles down a county dirt road so indexing at the last supercharger to show up pretty was a waste.

How fast did you go and what was your Wh/mi? I found the TACC to not follow close enough to the vehicle ahead causing others to pass and pull in front of me. Did you find similar?

I have noticed the follow distance has more space than our 2020 X but it feels like a safe amount of space.

You can adjust the follow distance using the roller ball on the right side. Play with it a bit.

My roller ball does not get me close enough. Maybe the distance calculation needs adjustment.

Wow, keep us updated on the journey. Wouldn't it be best for you to leave at 100% charge instead of 90%? That will save you some money using your home power instead of the Supercharger. I was told it is fine to go to 100% every now and then as long as you don't let it sit at 100%.

Turns out the Sherrif had never seen one before. He was giddy to see it up close. When he called it in they said "Please Repeat". My nephew, a local was at the wheel and confirmed if we were in his truck we wouldn't have been on the side of the road.. ha ha.
