Looks awesome. Wish I had seen this before doing the Barkeepers and applying Protectaclear. Your finish looks so much better. I wonder if using a ceramic coating after you’re done would be a better option.

I would be wary of using any coating on the stainless steel because none of them are as tough as the steel itself. Even if you scratch it, you can just polish out the scratch. With coatings you face a multi-step process.

A good way to go is to polish out the finish with a 1000 grit silicone carbide abrasive disc (made for metal polishing) on a RO sander so it has much finer scratch pattern and then wash it with soap and water and let a natural patina develop.

Thank you! I'm becoming very proud of the new look. I hope to get the entire passenger side and tail-gate finished by the weekend. I'm a big fan of the CyberMirror and the people who are doing it. I'm also a personal injury lawyer. I like the fact the stainless steel *grain* is still there. But, it is very, very shiny now on the panels I've finished. The laser etching is also *faded* *ghosted*, however, you want to put it, where the "Foundation Series" appears on the front fender. But, it is still very much there and easily seen in darker light, or looking from the right angle. I think the CyberMirrors lose the *Foundation Series* badging when the fender is polished.

You make an excellent point about the ProtectaClear sealant. Was a pain in the ass to remove. Definitely would have to be taken off before any future polishing would be possible. Right now, I don't intend to seal it. I want to watch how it ages on 007 over the next few months.

You know, my hand polishing is working like a fine grit sand paper. White Diamond Metal Polish is really good. Years ago when I tried it on my polished aluminum wheels I was amazed how it made them look *chromed* with just hand application. While it doesn't remove deep scratches, it does remove fine one and the texture of the metal to a smooth finish. Looks like chromed aluminum. My sister's first comment was that 007 looked like "sterling silver* after its polished. I don't know what is in the White Diamond Metal Polish formula that makes it so effective but, there are several YouTube videos of it being used to polish mag wheels and aluminum tread plate. I'm really pleased with the performance. It's transforming the entire vibe of my truck in a good way.

How has the finish held up over time? Did it develop a golden patina like the stock finish develops over time? Do you do touch ups or mini polishes like you would with BKF?

I’ve been wanting a shinier surface finish and this looks exactly like what I’m going for…not full mirror but more reflective. I’ve been experimenting with different sanding pads and have done well to match the finish of the stock metal but I want to take it a bit shinier. I’d probably be trying to use the polish with a random orbital sander/polisher…unfortunately I don’t have too much time to work on projects like this.
