I'm having a wrap put on soon, specifically STEK matte black PPF.

I was told by the installer that the PPF wrap cannot be wrapped around the corners. Can anyone with a STEK PPF comment on their wrap and if the corners were indeed wrapped around the edges or not. Can you see the stainless steel on the edges?

Thanks for any help\guidance on this.

They are literally lying to you. It's a red flag from an inexperienced installer of cybertrucks..

it's easier for them to not wrap the edges and it's worse for you..

There are quite a few videos online on wrapping of CT, and all of them wrap the edges. One biggest advantage of wrapping around the edge is to avoid the sharpness...

Watch any video from OCDetailing on YouT00b which is an installer in the SF Bay area (Fremont). They do mostly PPF wraps rather than vinyl and they meticulously wrap every edge every time.

Agree with the comments that you should run, not walk away from the installer you talked to because they don’t know what they are doing and there are plenty of others that do.

Good luck

Cheers

Run if the shop only has 1 person. It’s a DIYer trying his best to learn how to wrap. Look for a shop that has a lot of employees. This mean they wrap a lot of cars and have a ton of experience. With that said, PPF can be wrapped around the edges by an experienced installer.

My local installer removes some of the panels in order to properly get around the edges. Made me uncomfortable but they basically only focus on Cybertrucks.

My local installer gave me a tour of CT getting wrapped. The tail gate was completely taken off along with the light bar on the Frunk. The wrap went around/insides at least an inch or more depending on the location, very meticulous work. He also favors few brands which are thicker over others for CT's sharp edges.

It's advisable to tuck the edges of the PPF rather than cutting right on the edge, and here are the reasons why:

  1. Tucking reduces the risk of the edges peeling during a wash, maintaining the film's integrity.
  2. If any peeling occurs, tucking provides extra material to trim and correct the issue without compromising coverage.
  3. Overall, tucking ensures more comprehensive coverage, enhancing the protective benefits of the film.

What's the best solution when the edges start coming up? (other than the obvious "push it back up into place")
