I have never used winter tires before, but I plan quite a few ski trips and a road trip to Canada from San Francisco this season, so I’m thinking to get a set of dedicated winter tires for safety.

Tesla winter package is the best deal I can find but I heard the DuraTrac is not “real” winter tires so I want to get the Blizzak. The after market wheels and used wheels both are so expensive. How do people swap tires? Is it OK to just dismount the current tires and mount the winter tires and swap again when summer comes? Will it damage the tires by dismounting and mounting again?

I bought it because it's easy. I'll probably replace with different tires once they're due.

I bought the wheel and tire package because I had a $2500 voucher to spend. I’m not using them as winter tires. It’s nice having a spare set of rims and a spare when going off road.

The tires don’t grip as well as the oem tires on a beast launch. They are a tad louder which is expected.

If I were just buying tires I’d get KO3’s. I have a set saved on my Amazon wish list, patiently waiting for a flash price drop.

I will get another set of rims when I'm ready for that. Great range rims and tires with the 3 peaks for winter. Cool looking rims with good looking highway tires for the summer.

If you have two sets of rims, it's easier and faster to swap them over. You can do it yourself or have a local shop do the balance, align, rotation at the same time. Shops are more likely to take you as a walk in or appointment if it's bolt on.

Im gonna go this winter with the AS Pirellis and see how it does. If its unmanageable then i will buy a winter set, but I've been driving in new England my whole life and never needed to buy specific winter tires.

Where did you buy the rims?
I bought black rims from the local dealer with the tires . Just can’t remember the name of my rims . Just remember if you are going to get tires and rims or Eder the TPMS sensors from Tesla .

I am thinking the same, wish people who drove last winter on Pirelli’s would chime in their experience in deep snow and icy roads.

I bought some new CT rims off eBay and went for the Toyo Open Country WLT1. I live in a high snow area >300" a season and was very happy with the performance last winter. The Tesla package would be fine in a low snow area.

So has anyone asked the service center if they are willing to change the tires out for stock AT’s when you buy the winter package?
I think they just assemble them on site. Don’t know if they care what tires they actually put on.
