Back in stock I guess. I was able to order today. Not the tire I wanted for winter, but for $500 after the voucher, I will live with them for a year or two.

If conditions are really bad, I will take the Model S with X-Ice tires.

That was quick! Maybe they just listed them out of stock while they checked with the manufacturer about how many they could get. If that's the case, they may very well sell out again shortly. Tire manufacturing often doesn't lend itself very well to just cranking up another batch because they ran out (because the machines are already spoken for by other tire models).

I was actually a little surprised they didn't sell out more quickly.

Just checking in as I had my appointment on Thursday to have my winter wheel package installed. Unfortunately, the wheels hadn't shown up yet :(. Rather annoying as I live almost 300 miles from the nearest US service center so it's not like I can just pop back in whenever. I did still have them do the recall work (wiper motor and sail appliques), so the trip wasn't a total loss. According to the service manager the Tesla Shop is completely separate from their normal parts system so they don't have the same visibility there. I also asked about having them just ship the wheels as I'm fully capable of swapping them myself, but no bueno (to be fair, I didn't push too hard, and he was super nice/helpful otherwise).

Luckily I do have other reasons to come down to The Cities on the regular so it's not that huge of a deal for me. But for those of you traveling a ways for an appointment to get your winter wheel package installed I would recommend trying to confirm they actually have the wheels first. They didn't let me know until the morning of my appointment so I had already traveled down.

Do 275/65/20. You can get Blizzaks.
Although reviews I've seen on the Wrangler tires that Tesla is using for its winter wheels say that they are very good in snow. As long as they aren't too loud I'll try them out. The fact that I can put them on sooner, and leave them on longer, is a big plus over pure snow tires.

I've been doing some research on the Duratecs and the only negative I can find is that the siping on the tires doesn't go all the way down like the KO3 and other brands. So one review said when the tires lose 40-50% of their tread they will be useless in the snow.

I consider them more suitable for the Cybertruck due to the half-depth siping. I'm a big fan of siping, but deep sipes do cause the tire to be more squirmy under hard acceleration, braking and cornering on bare pavement and half-depth siping would help mitigate that downside. Full depth siping can also cause tread chunking and failure with softer rubber compounds so the fact that they limited sipe depth gives me hope that they use a relatively soft rubber compound for decent winter performance.

Plus, the fact that they can be run in summer months means that when they are worn down to the depth of the sipes you can leave them on for the summer and buy new ones for the next winter.

Checked this morning and the "winter" all-terrain tires are sold out again. Glad mine are already ordered and have arrived.

Tesla's new winter wheel package for $3k is an amazing deal.

Yesterday I received the winter wheel and tire set I ordered from Tsportline (20" fully forged lightweight wheel with BF Goodrich KO3 tires).

https://tsportline.com/collections/...tweight-tesla-wheel-and-tire-package-set-of-4

Although I paid more than twice what Tesla is charging, here's what I like about the package I chose:
  • Lighter wheel (31.8 lbs vs. 35.2 lbs for a Tesla Cybertruck wheel without the aero cover)
  • Reasobably light tire (62 lbs vs 59 for the Goodyear Wrangler A/T in Tesla's winter tire package and 67.4 lbs for the Falken A/T4W, which was the primary other tire I considered).
  • Good traction, especially in the KO3 which came out this year vs. its predecessor, the KO2, which came out a decade ago in the fall of 2014.
My research found that the Falken A/T4W is better in wet and snow conditions than the one I went with, but I ultimately passed on it given its heavier weight.

Here's a link to a video I found helpful as I was deciding which wheels to choose:

Sweet 20's! I have those same wheels in 22's on 325-50-22 AT4W's!

Saw ts has two tire winter options on their steel wheels under 3k. Blizzaks and Nokians

Same thing happened to me at Golden Valley SC. I showed up and no winter wheels. I drove 45 miles and I wasn’t very happy. If I had drove 300…. Wish I had your patience level. I think the way the accessory organization is run is terrible and it should be overhauled. Ordered 9/3 still nothing.

Does putting Blizzaks or changing my tires myself or at a shop void my warranty on my truck? I am being told by a tire shop it does. I am trying to put the Duratrac RTs on it.

Under no circumstances can they void the entire truck warranty for swapping tires - eg if your seat breaks it's not tire related. In theory they could deny something that "could" be tire related but I dont personally have that concern and plan on putting other rims/tires on at some point in the future. And the Duratrac RT's are OEM provided in the winter package - so cant see how they would have an issue.

to close this out - I spoke to a service rep from Tesla in NJ and they said the same (my shop probby just afraid of the CT - but they did do the work and it worked out great. Tires rock!) Still waiting for 285 sized blizzaks.
