We saw S/X buyers turn to 3/Y buyers once they became available in the US. Value is a powerful motivator. There were people that rather spend less on a vehicle but bought S/X because that was there only option at the time.

You missed value on the MYP.
Absolutely...MY is the best value "if" you need the space in the back, like us.

Otherwise if it's just two people in there, the M3 is highly capable and good value.
At one point it was EUR26k in Germany with incentives for the M3 RWD.
Nothing comparable on the road at that point.

The Performance premium here is a bit over the top in comparison though.

Tesla has the pre-order numbers so they know what the demand is here.
They know our design rules having made S, X, 3 and Y for this market.
They know how easy (or not) converting to RHD is for the CT.
They know everything but they aren't saying jack as per usual.

Maybe I should start a campaign about how the Australian Government hates Free Speech and AI so Elon releases it here first out of spite.

Yeah, but that's because there wasn't an option like the 3/Y on the market at all.

I think the information vacuum is to protect their interests, and to not divulge to much information before they have the design and manufacturing locked down.

Previously, car manufactures announced a new model with a prototype but didn't let you make a reservation. This is still a remnant from Teslas startup days where they actually needed the orders to secure financing to build manufacturing. I expect that to change with M2 etc, with the announcement only being made closer to production.

I don't think the conversion is hard, but in this case it's about satisfiing as many customers without spreading any potential issues to far away from where they can be fixed.

I've often thought about approaching our local Oka guys to do a EV variant. By the time we get the CT here it might just be ready.

Delivery day will soon be upon us. Anyone put together any juicy speculation about availability outside the US? We have seen one driving in Canada, but I believe that was on Californian plates. Before that, New Zealand testing and Mexico, potentially Iceland (or has that been fully debunked?).

Awkward timing as I’m just having to make a decision on a new car, possibly before the delivery event. Now, I’m assuming it will be 2025 before any chance of a European launch, but it would properly piss me off if, in a week, they announce Europe will soon be available, and I’d just taken delivery of a new car!
Given that the CT was much harder to make than they anticipated AND it’s going to take them years to fully ramp to 200,000 a year to fulfill at least 1 million preorders AND the different safety requirements across multiple European countries, I don’t think the CyberTruck is going to be available internationally any time soon. Maybe 2027/2028 at the earliest?

Australia had a limited market for the prestige X... If I recall some figures correctly, only 1000-3000 units per year.

We do like our trucks, last look we had ordered 27,000 CT's. I think it's more than double that now.
Model Y's all over the place... EV uptake % is growing fast.

Plenty of companies are supplying RHD vehicles down under, My guess we will have sustained 20,000+ units per year demand.

I think they are targeting full production for 2025, but with some ramp next year (100K or so). While mathematically it does indeed take years to reach a million from there, that’s assuming everyone on the reservation list makes the purchase as soon as their number is called. Also historically Tesla hasn’t really followed the reservation list after the initial push.

The flip side is that American trucks haven’t really been a thing in Europe, due to size. This is why it’s been good to see Tesla reducing that size even a bit, although it is still big by European standards. Having said that, there is a window of opportunity as there are no real offroad EVs in Europe right now and none that can tow like the Cybertruck. Even the vans are limited in that respect. So if Tesla could stick to the original prices and sell in Europe, I suspect it would sell. Not as much as in the US and not as much as the M3 or MY, but for people who need a work vehicle there would be almost no other choice. Ford is planning to start selling the F150 in Europe starting next year.

Psst... I don't want everyone eating hotdogs, I did that store just for you bud! ;) :ROFLMAO:

It's actually funny how many action hero's and celebrities have the initials J.B.

(James Bond, Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer, Jack Bristow (Alias), Johnny Bravo (one of my favorite cartoons), Justin Bieber, Johann Bach, James Brown, Jeff Bridges, Jack Black, Jeff Bezos, Jessica Biel, Jimmy Barnes, Jenson Button, Joseph Bonaparte (Napoleons brother), Jackie K, and of course your American Joe)

Was going to put the white t-shirt picture of Jacqueline Bisset from The Deep but I didn't want to take a chance of getting removed from site. ;)
