I think this is my last shot then it’s coming off and I’ll just have to live without tint. It will be a tough sell to the SC if it’s only an issue when tinted. Either way, I’ll be fine, still love driving it.

I picked up my truck yesterday with Xpel 70 installed and the issue has gone away. I still need to take if for a spin at night but all signs are that it’s solved. At certain angles I can see the waviness of the glass but it’s not enough for me to try to get the windshield replaced.
The tint shop was outstanding with their service, they installed the tint 3 times.

Here's what I'm quoted: $2,112
XR Plus film on all of the glass except the sunroof.
He recommended 55% or 80% on the windshield. I'll probably go with 80%, I don't want poor night vision.

Thoughts?

Price seems ok. IF he’s doing everything. Film is decent quality stuff.
I almost always regret not going darker on every car I’ve done it on. Depends where you live but 80% is not adequate in Arizona.
I see perfectly fine at night.

By everything I mean he doesn’t feed you some BS like, “the back windows and roof glass have factory tint so I’m not gonna do those”. That’s a favorite line.
Even if you choose not to darken them much there is significant thermal benefit to doing them.

So I did 70 on the Cybertruck. I think the slope of the window makes it harder for people to see me anyway. Not sure darker would have made much of a difference in that regard. Edit 20 on the sides.

Having said that I just did 55 on my 2025 Wrangler 392. I went darker on that one because the windshield's flat. I've noticed no difference in visibility when driving at night. Also did 20 on the sides.

They both look great. On the Jeep more of a privacy difference. On the cyber truck more for heat.

The roof glass is a choice many don’t make but I’m very happy I did mine.

No tint is always the best tint.
I have a strong set of rules, for any vehicle I buy, and use these rules as a test for anyone claiming to be a ”car person”. What are the 2 things you must do when buying a car.
1. Remove the dealership advertising, preferably before leaving the lot, anyone driving around with “Blah Blah dealership” on their vehicle is not a car person.
2. Tint your windows. If I know I’m buying a car before I go buy the car, I usually already have an appointment scheduled, if not I usually call and schedule while doing the paperwork.

and in a electric car, its even more important, tint gives you range.

The price I was given is without the roof. I'm in Oklahoma. I thought the most important thing was to have ceramic, not so much how dark the tint is? I'm not super informed on this. Any help is appreciated. I've had it for about 6 weeks now, so ready to move on this.

Do whatever looks good to you but I’d advise erring on the side of darker. I’ve never regretted that but have regretted not doing enough.

Went from 75% to 50%, improvements include;

Glare reduction of sun rays and general light in the cabin.I have a 5% strip above ASMR which is also a huge help. Typically don’t need visors at the brightest time of day, though I still wear polarized glasses.

No issues with nighttime.

I prefer adequate and have moderate difficulty when things are dark. No issues for me at 50%

You should check your state regulations of course, big factor.

Yep. If it’s me I’m getting right up to the limit allowed by the state and camping right there.

Saw a CT the other day with wrapped black cantrail, no tint. I threw up in my mouth a little, looked awful to me. Made me want to start a “DONT DO THIS” thread on this here forum.

I went from 50 to 75 due to issues of waviness in the windshield glass itself causing double vision. 50 is 100% better than 75. It all but eliminated the need for sunglasses and I didn’t notice any difficulties at night.

Hands down I’d go with 50ish if I could.
