Sound Deadening

Doesn’t work. It’s basically impossible to sound deadened the door gaps more than they already are. Do this open the rear door all the way, leave the front door fully closed. Look at the gap on the front door from the frame to the inner door edge. It is very wide like 3-4” Those thin $4 rolls of rubber seal are like 1/2” wide. They don’t even come close at all to filling and sealing that gap. Where the gap can actually be sealed already is from the factory.

There are also other posts on here were a user installed a similar kit, maybe the same one. He did decibel readings before and after and shocker it made zero difference. Same exact db reading.

I haven't looked in the wheel wells of my CT, but is the liner plastic? On my 2018 Model 3, the front wheels wells were plastic, so I bought these felt liners. Seemed to help a tiny bit, but impossible to measure the difference.

Most more expensive vehicles have some deadening layer on the side of wheel well plastic, but I don’t know yet for the CT.

wheel balancing or foam separation in tire . Just had mine in for same problem . Tesla indicated tire balance . I have my doubts .May still be wheel foam separation . will see today when i pick up.

I had that shuddering with my early 3XXX VIN build, would shake water bottles in the door holder and made the driver side mirror unusable. 3 visits to the SC and they figured out the metal outer skin of the door wasn’t adhered or welded properly to the inner frame, so the fast air of higher speeds or crosswind would make it vibrate.

So what’s the consensus. Do these deadening kits make much of a difference? I don’t mind shelling out money if they work, I just always feel like I’m getting bamboozled when they don’t.
How about the higher dollar approaches like dynamat? Anybody have astounding success with that on a Cybertruck?

When I first bought my truck I did some rattle chasing, removing panels and trim pieces and in the process installed basic dynamat (Amazon’s version) where I saw opportunities to do so, with the goal of sound dampening/deadening in the cab.

I installed Amazon’s dynamat under the rear bench seat subwoofer area, as well as floor and door panels.

Interested to see if anyone has any products they have used for the wheel wells, like the felt liners mentioned in this thread.

I believe I notice a difference, with reduced rattles and squeaks with driving, as well as with loud music vibrations.

I read somewhere a little bit about the engineering behind the CT’s frame/structure and that it functions to amplify the bass or acoustics within the cab? I was messing around with this when I had the panels off over the back subs under the back bench seat and noticed a whoosh of air through the frame from the ported subs. So when I had panels off I would look to secure any loose wires, look for broken clips and cover any bare metal surfaces with dynamat or dynamat sub with the goal of dampening sound and reducing rattles while driving and with music. Also added rubber washers under fasteners that were plastic on metal in the location of the subwoofers.

FWIW, If you have the time and patience to do a mass install of dampening material on your CT with a before and after review, I would watch! GL!

Checking back in with TexasRaider to see if the sound deadening kit made a difference... I've noticed in my truck at highway speeds using a decibel meter app that my db level closely mirrors my mph speed. Ex. 75mph is reading 74-75 decibels on the meter. Would love to get it down in the 60's if possible for long road trips.
