Tesla: Please add Cruise Control to the Cybertruck

Every thought to yourself, "Maybe I should be driving manually through construction zones"? I mean is it REALLY necessary to use FSD or 'Cruise control' in construction zones? Not saying that you CAN'T (Heck, I do every day!), but if you are having issues with speed (put in chill mode first) and are concerned about the cops, I would just drive it myself... You will still get those 'forward collision warning' and 'hey, get back in your lane!' notices, but at least YOU are in control...

As others pointed out, TACC is extremely buggy, to the point of being dangerous. Besides slowing down unnecessarily when vehicles at a distance are making turns, it brakes unexpectedly in two of these scenarios :

1) Curvature assist kicks in because it decides there is curvature when there isn't any - highway is as straight as it gets. What seems to throw it off is extra road paint at intersections.

2) When "blinded" by opposite traffic. It happens for like 1 in 20 vehicles. It doesn't like something about their headlights, whether it's the color or the angle, no way of telling because as a driver I don't detect any issue but CT will brake unexpectedly.

The reason it's dangerous is because other drivers will follow you too closely, especially if they have no reason to think you'd brake unexpectedly (i.e. road ahead is absolutely clear). So TACC is setting one up for being rear ended at high speed.

As the title of this post plea indicates, I wish my CT had cruise control. A cruise control that was easy to set, keeps the settings and stops when the brake is applied. I still have over twenty interventions on a twenty five mile trip to town because it cannot hold the legal speed limit in a construction zone. There are often times cops with radar looking to levy a fine on someone and my CT constantly fails to hold my setting of the speed limit, (it cannot read any of the many speed limit signs in the construction zone). I have to brake, reset the speed, put it back into FSD and hope that it will work but it doesn't. If I just had a regular, dependable cruise control I would be VERY happy. Make myself and others like me happy about our CT purchase. Thank you in advance.

when I think I might be near a speed trap I use the scroll wheel to slow the CT , but it is a small inconvenience

The construction zone between my house and town is about 7 miles long (out of a 25 mile total distance). I could put it in manual but I don't thin k that it is too much to expect to have FSD and cruise control. Heck, even if they pick up a cruise control that is off patent and slap it in there I would be happy. Cruise control should be able to work in FSD is my point. It is just frustrating to have the truck speed up 10+ mph in a construction zone where the fines are doubled and you just want to maintain the legal speed. I don't fear the "fast" driving as much as I do getting a ticket in this area so thick in highway patrolmen. I just want to obey the speed limit and the truck should be able to do so, no questions asked. If you think that I am asking too much then I guess that I will agree to disagree with you and leave it at that.

It's dangerous with all the phantom braking and constant speed switching. A simple cruise control function to mimic what's been available widely since the 80s. Good fall back when needed.

Who ever use a cruise control if you have FSD ?

I think his point is that we know Tesla will never deliver dumb cruise control.

You purchased the CT which only has TACC by default and the option for FSD (through FS or buying it)...those are your options.

I am okay with TACC in theory. It is buggy and not really usable though (unsafe). If they can't/won't fix it basic cruise control could be an easy win.

I didn't have any major issues with TACC, sometimes it would slow, but I just hit the accelerator. In most vehicles TACC and AP use a really old code that Tesla has not really put a ton of effort into improving because all effort is focused on FSD.

Tesla does not agree that dumb cruise is necessary. Despite the lawsuit and years of complaints, they're not changing...they are pushing forward with FSD and TACC/AP for everyone else (minus the CT which only gets TACC). They also haven't made major changes to TACC in years.

I also understand that the CT is low on the priority considering there were only 23K-30k delivered last year and most had FSD included.
