This is my first electric vehicle and first Tesla. When i bought the CT i had read all the boards and watched all the videos and knew it would be a little more quirky and require a little more patience than the other vehicles I was considering but I felt it was worth it (still do). This is my 3rd service appt in 4 mo. First time was some cosmetic stuff and they sent a mobile repair truck and fixed it.
The second time was for some minor stuff and was at the service center and while the experience was pleasant enough the 2 hour repair window turned into 2 days. I sat there for several hours and finally went and asked about my car and they were like "oh it wont be ready until tomorrow we can give you a loaner". OK fine bad communication but made it right and gave me a model Y (and tomorrow turned into day after tomorrow).

It is this 3rd time that is kind of pissing me off and would really like to hear from you guys if this is normal and what i should expect going forward. I keep getting "Power reduced" and "high voltage system error detected" messages so i made an appt. They couldnt get me in for 2 weeks which was fine but I get there and they tell me they didn't set up a loaner but would try and get to it right away. I went to lunch around the corner and did some shopping and came back in 3hrs and they hadn't even looked at it. They gave me a Cyberbeast as a loaner and told me mine would be ready the next day (Wednesday). The Cyberbeast they gave me was really filthy, i was shocked they would let a car go out like that with some kind of shit all over the seats and console and the exterior caked with dirt. Fine, ok I appreciate the loaner and I immediately took it and got it cleaned. Thursday they message me that it will be Friday. Friday they message me and say it will be Monday. And now here we are on Monday and they tell me they r still trying to diagnose the problem???? 6 freaking days and no work done and they are "trying to diagnose it". Seems like total BS to me.

Is this what i should expect going forward? I REALLY love my CT and my overall experience with Tesla so far has been really positive (the sales process was great and the service ppl have been really nice) but if I am not a "one off" and this is a typical service experience they have a lot of work to do IMHO

With the exception of the surprise six day repair/non-repair I have experienced everything that you have with my CT. In my case, it was not a filthy CT but a filthy/nasty Model X that they gave me as a loaner and like you I was stunned that they would present me with a vehicle in that condition just for their own reputation, pride/lack thereof. [I will note that I don’t believe that they have car washes etc. on site at the SCs so it may not be a lot that they can do on short notice. But I view that as a ā€œthemā€ problem that should not be made a ā€œmeā€ problem.]

I currently own 3 other Teslas besides and all told over six years of ownership and five different vehicles I can still count on two hands the total number of service visits I’ve ever had. So, the good news is it shouldn’t be something that you have to experience frequently. But, generally speaking the service experience with Tesla is at best a mixed bag.

Good to know, i am thinking about buying a Model Y for the wife. Service may suck but the driving experience makes up for it (at least so far). Appreciate the info

Your wife will love the model Y. This new generation Y is a better value than the X and if you’ll likely find it to be the least problematic car you’ve ever owned.

Mines in the shop for the second time with a similar issue. Same 2 warning lights (and many more) turned mine into a brick. It's been 2 weeks this time and they have no idea what's wrong. I thought i'd avoid the early adapter struggles, but I guess not. Very frustrating brother!

Same, we've mostly all come to accept that Elon's vision is zero repairs, SCs are underinvested, too few locations, too few techs, struggle with wait times.....

The reality we live in is that Tesla doesn't want the car in service, they make zero dollars on most service and aren't trying to fleece us like ICE dealership repairs.

Mixed bag, cars are great until there is a glitch in the matrix and you need service.

Where are you? I hate to say this, but service is bad. Takes at least a month for appointment. Fact. They have not hired enough technicians to match the millions of cars sold. They don't pay a living wage. Refuse to put on second shift. I got loaner that was empty. Had to sit for hour to fill up. Its only going to get worse. Service in early days was fantastic. Even got wash before return.

My appointment went from 2 days to a week and a half, but I suspected it would with the errors it showed. They did give me a Y loaner, which made hauling hay and shavings difficult, but my brother has the GMC electric truck and his was in service for 2 or 3 months, so I counted myself lucky. I’m going on 8 years with a Tesla and half of my repairs have been mobile service. My Mini Cooper dealer had switched to Uber credits so if I get a loaner these days I’m satisfied.

Oh, and I checked around and found a service center that would get me in the next business day. I’d heard horror stories of waiting weeks, but I guess I was lucky to have a choice in repair centers.

Service is really about your local service center than Tesla itself. My local one in Loveland is amazing and they are incredibly good to work with (loaners, communication, speed, etc). When I got my first Tesla in 2018, I had to get service out of a Denver area one and they were pretty terrible (I hear rumors they still are, but I have no first hand experience).

IMO if you have a bad experience at one, check around the area for a different center. Even if it is further away, you might have a lot better experience.
