Basically stripped ("de-contented") versions. Priced at $39,990 for the Y (or $41,630 with destination and order fees). Priced at $36,990 for the 3 (or $38,630 with destination and order fees). No lease options.

That IS interesting. I wonder why Tesla thinks there is no financial incentive for them to lease a M3 “standard” version. Could this possibly be seen as having an Osborn-effect vis-a-vis the Robotaxi?
Toyota is infamous for leasing their cheapest vehicles and they make decent revenue from it, or there wouldn’t be that stupid “Toyota Leasathon” thing every single year.

People are treating this just like the RWD CT. They simply removed far too many features for such a small drop in price.
It will sell better than the RWD CT, but it will likely just cannibalize other M3/Y and sell in low numbers.

Hope nobody delayed a 3/Y purchase until 4Q because "cheaper models are coming".
On September 30, you could buy a Model Y Premium RWD for $37,490 with the tax credit. Now, just a week later, you will pay $39,990 for a Model Y Standard RWD with a lot fewer features.

Wow, looks like you're right. To be fair, none of the other 3/Y trims have AM radio, only FM (AM doesn't usually work well with EVs). But the new Standard RWDs don't even have FM.
People were shocked that the forthcoming Slate EV pickup won't include a radio as a standard feature. Now Tesla is doing the same.
