Hi,

I was trying to install the @Tesstudio mirror and while I followed the instructions of the video, it did not want to work as expected.

I ordered it first in January and installed it at the end of January. Everything worked fine in the garage: the mirror had pictures from both the front and the back camera and I closed everything up.

However, when I drove out to the light, the picture started to be scrambled and after a few seconds I got an error message indicating that there is no picture from the back camera.

From that on, I tried to contact the company, I got no response.

I had to turn it off when I drove during the day, because it was just flickering. During the night, while it worked, I experienced a lot of reboots and sometimes it turned itself.

I asked my money back from the credit card company, they gave it back and I ordered a new one, thinking that probably this one had a bad component or something.

I received it and I tested it and it was not much better than the first one. I tried to mix and match the old components with the new one, but the result is almost the same, except that it seemed to have worked in daylight, but it started flickering in a minute and turn itself off randomly. The second instance had a newer firmware.

We talked about with my friend and it looks like that the issue may be with the power not being enough to the mirror, but I verified the installation and I did everything according to the install instructions.

Any ideas?

For you to have gotten your money back and then turned around and bought another one, that you claim they delivered, doesn't really add up. You should be working with the vendor to say the least.

is this the S92 model? I have a lot of experience with this and may be able to help. To start with, what firmware are you running?

Attaching the photos of the power harness. This is the one that came with the first one:

The new is this one: they look like the same.

Read what I wrote: I tried to contact TesStudio, written them multiple emails to their support email, no response for multiple weeks. That's when I requested my money back from the credit card company, then I ordered a new one because I assumed that the problem is with one of the components and that I could put together a working one from the two.

Yes! Attaching the photo of both of the mirror's firmwares. Old:

New:

This QR code brings me to a page that looks like a Chinise user manual...

I also get an error on my screen when the power harness is connected (new or old it does not matter). While it says that Audio system unavailable, it is actually working fine. Horn, too.

the 2nd picture of the firmware version is the latest firmware. I assume those are the 2 different models you have purchased. Ok, try removing the SD card and running without the SD card for a few days and see if that is better for you.

what we are looking for is the rebooting or flashing on and off to stop... the audio error message will still display and there's nothing we can do about that for the time being.

Ok, will give it a try, thank you! Where can I download the latest firmware for the first mirror? Do you have a link for that?

Thanks for the info! I spent another two hours with these mirrors.

Mirror #1 (with the older firmware) is installed in the car and I tried to avoid physically replace it with the new mirror, so I first tried the software upgrade method.

That did not go well: I unpacked the image, moved to the root folder of the SD card, but all the mirror did is just removed the file when I clicked on the "System Update", then it complained that the file is not found.

I did it ~3 times to make sure that it is not a user error, but every time it happened the same: I copied the update imagine, I verified that it's there (re-inserted the SD card), then I put it into Mirror #1, tried to update: "The upgrade file does not exist".

Ok, I tried to replace #1 with #2 that had a newer (the newest) firmware. After struggling with the screw I finally managed to get a hang of it, but it looks like that there is a contact problem with the rear camera cable of that particular mirror: when it just hangs, it works, but when I move the cables a little bit and I try to fasten the mirror to its place, I get a "No signal from rear camera" or something like this error.

If I managed to upgrade #1, then it may work in the end, but it looks like #2 is going to the trash...

Ok, I re-read the documentation again, and found a section about the order of inserting the SD card after the mirror is turned on. I'll try that next time...

My S92 would never fully boot. I bought it last month and had it professionally installed. The Cybertruck logo would come up but then everything would go blank. Here’s a video made by the installer.

There removed and reboxed the device. Left phone and email messages with the company several times, and finally they texted back, requesting switch to WhatsApp. They insisted that I try various diagnostics, but it is way out of my skill set to use a multimeter, and it would have required reinstallation. I insisted that it was a bad unit, so they agreed to swap it out after I return the old one. So I am off to USPS today with instructions to ship it back as seen below. Not real optimistic.

I’m wondering if something changed with the ā€˜25 model year or recent software updates from Tesla. My CT is only a month old and I suspect there are things about it that the mirror developer hasn’t yet seen.

I’ve often been burned by aftermarket hardware that has to inter-operate with OEM power and other signals. This application depends on multiple data inputs from the vehicle, such as reversing and direction changes, plus power and lighting settings/intensity.

It’s a great idea, but would be best to have as OEM. I don’t blame the developer, as they are victims too, always chasing bugs or compatibility issues due to things beyond their control. Especially true in the Tesla world, where OEM changes occur continuously and without announcement or details.

My concern is dealing with sellers that appear to be American but in reality are in China. Besides the language issues in support communications, the 13-hr time difference has me up in the middle of the night on WhatsApp trying to diagnose the issues. And then there’s the cost and hassle of shipping back to China when a unit doesn’t work. Plus I paid $300 to the professional installer, only to have to box it back up when it didn’t work. I will probably try to install it myself if/when the replacement comes. However life’s really too short to lose a couple days to getting a flighty aftermarket rear view mirror to operate correctly.
