I don't trust the Fast Lane guys to be unbiased, they seem like fake EV enthusiasts because so much of what they say sounds like they are trying to appear to be EV enthusiasts while subtly trying to turn people away from EVs and make them think an EV might not a good fit for them. Or at least trying to get them to buy a GM EV at a high price.
Maybe they're the authors of the "FutureTruck" account that had been spamming this forum lately. Sounds like the same MO. ?

It's not traditional because they keep gamifying it. Do this and you can skip all the people who already placed orders.

Raising the price 20k above what we were expecting by surprise is one example of throwing customers under the bus. Also, letting people skip, and you keep saying people expected them Jan 1 but they missed the whole window. April is not March. And some still don't have vins. Do you have your blinders on?

I did go with another well established Tesla product. I bought a used X and replaced my Y. But I only had my Y because I sold my 3 when they said CT was coming the first time. So this, do something else while you wait game is getting old.

So you think it's totally normal that people who never had a reservation can jump above the 4 year waiters? Even those who placed FS order in 2023? C'mon
Really? Are you so naive to think that this hasn't been done by other manufacturers. Just because this is the first that you have heard of it doesn't mean that it has never happened before.
And when has the introduction of a vehicle been so closely monitored before?

I'll wait while you find me evidence that another auto manufacturer has used referral points to skip people who already placed orders.

And which other manufacturers have referral points?

And of those, how many are expecting to get a $250,000 car?

? Lol

But @Woodrick you literally proved my point. I said it's not traditional and they use referral points to skip. You asked how it's not traditional. And then you asked how many manufacturers are like Tesla. (Which literally is you saying it's not traditional) ?

Ford is using the new program ...
Just trying to keep up with Tesla.

But, Ford has to be Ford.

At the moment, the new referral program is a regional offer for Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models that are purchased or leased in the following states: California, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Washington, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York.
gives shoppers $500 off the price of a 2023 or 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E or F-150 Lightning
But of course, they barely even make it worthwhile and I dare to say that they only allow one.

No... TFL aren't Tesla haters. I guess you do not watch them much or you wouldn't make false and yet opinionated comments like you did. They are pretty pragmatic and they do know trucks pretty well.
Give me a break. TFL can't be overtly Tesla haters, that would obviously disqualify them for being worthy of watching by a majority of people! They have to do it in a way that appears fair and balancedd to most viewers. But they are no more "fair and balanced" than Fox news, and it doesn't take a degree in marketing to see that.

Standing up for TFL is not a good look on a forum full of EV fans, many of whom have actually driven and used a wide variety of EVs.

Did you see the episode years ago where they purposefully backed a Model 3 into a concrete wall, while claiming it was an accident, so they could tell you how long it took to get repaired (and how much it cost)? Then they hired a third party auto body repair shop to muck up the ordering of parts to further delay things?

Or are you so gullible that you thought this was just good, honest auto journalism? :ROFLMAO:

Never underestimate the lengths monied interests will go to slow Tesla down. There are people on this forum hired to do just that.

It's a balancing act for sure. I wonder if, from a business perspective, it's better to retain customers or gain new ones
Not sure that is what is actually in play here but we'll just have to let everything play out and see what happens. I am a non-Tesla owner who is interested in the CT for its innovation and feature set. FS and the screwing around with reservations annoys me a lot (as does what comes out of Elon's mouth). Could very well sway my ultimate purchase decision now that the Silverado EV is becoming available.

Screwing around? What screwing around?

That's what I don't get here. There's just not evidence of alot of 'screwing around'.

We have lots of variables here:
  • When the reservation was placed
  • Where the reservation is
  • Are they an employee, etc
Then Tesla has to deal with:
  • How many trucks are they making
  • Is the service center upgraded
  • Has the staff been trained
  • Do they have enough trucks and trains to deliver
  • Do they have enough space to receive deliveries
  • How long is it taking the delivery center to process each truck
All things we don't know and are variables that are different for each delivery location.

And on top of that they added a couple things they've done before:
  • Referral credits (a one-time jump of just a few units)
  • and now... Shareholder bumping.
At no point do we have solid confirmation of anyone being able to walk up and plonk down a reservation and then get a truck delivered ahead of the million other orders. But we also know there are fake orders, guys claiming to have used ten addresses and ten credit cards to fake out the system, real cheaters. That's also something Tesla has to deal with.

But really, do we think there's a huge supply of people with tens of thousands of referral credits who sit on the Tesla App looking for deals? Or shareholders who've sat on $42k dollars of stock from the first date and through the subsequent drops to January of this year who didn't have a reservation who suddenly want a truck?

Sheesh.

When the overall volume is very low, these seemingly insignificant line jumping techniques can cause delays for those who ordered earlier. Let's say 100 people jump. That means, 100 people who are now out of their original estimated window may have got the truck on time.

I don't think anyone is saying that the shenanigans are going to impact everyone.

Nor are we saying that Tesla is the devil for doing it.

But it is impacting people.

One more way of screwing around with reservations could be the whole FS series. It 100% blindsided us. You of all people know that

I told people it was a dumb idea to post thread after thread about how much they were willing to overspend.

The TFLTruck guys have given rave reviews to the Silverado EV 4WT after towing with it in the Rockies and range testing it while towing. They've had a lot of positives to say about the Lightning as well. They were willing to cough up 100 grand for a CT and probably take a big hit on depreciation after selling it a year or so on. I don't think it is fair to say they are anti EV.

Personally, I think they are more relatable because they aren't all in on EVs. Their annoyance with Tesla regarding the CT experience is a perfectly reasonable reaction.

lol! Opinions are like *ssholes. Everyone has one… even you @HaulingAss ?. You definitely are in some of the top fanbois in this forum. You claim to be big into trucks but your posts show the opposite. Stating TFL isn’t honest journalism (I am guessing your way of saying they don’t know off-roading or trucks) shows even more your pontifications and speeches of BS. Just like how you don’t air down your tires when you off-road ?. Dude… get a grip.

These guys are whiners and are upset b/c others beating them to videos on social media. They are not really CT fans, even stating ā€˜not sure if it is a truck.’ Tesla should not prioritize their order and hope they cancel.
