Buckeyes, the v4 Superchargers are now open and they are great!

Another owner pulled up as I was leaving, they were heading toward v3 and I pointed them down here to the v4’s! They were a cool couple we talked about wraps, accessories.

Is that right? It held that 255kW and I couldn’t believe it. Was not the only one charging

Still V3. Will ramp much higher when they roll-out the 1000V V4 chargers.

Just so you know, when a charger throttles back it's generally because the vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS) told it to, not due to any limitation of the charger. The vehicle tells the charger how much current to supply, up to the charger's maximum ability. It's always possible the charger will sense that the cable or the charge plug got too warm and throttle back, but generally it's because the vehicle didn't want more current.

In over 7 months of driving over a 4 country area, my Cybertruck has never needed one of the many Superchargers I've driven right by. I did Supercharge once for 15 or 20 minutes, just to make sure it worked, but I didn't need to, I was only 1/2 hour from home and still had 30% left! In any case, it ramped right up to 253 kW as soon as I plugged in.

Even though I've charged at home or our cabin for over 90% of my driving in 5 different EVs over the last 6 plus years, I recognize that the Supercharger Network is responsible for making EVs practical and convenient for all my motoring needs. People who don't understand EVs very well think we need more range before EVs are practical for most people. But they don't understand the new motoring paradigm, it's driven by fast charging networks, not 400+ miles of range. And there is only one DCFC network I can truly count on. That's why I could never buy a non-Tesla, they only have access to half of them, they didn't build the network that makes it so seamless, and they still need an adapter and a paid subscription to get the real market price for electricity at a Supercharger.

Anyone want to guess what brand will first release an EV that's ready to make full use of Ver. 4 Superchargers (at least 800 volts) without needing an adapter? They will still need a paid subscription, but I'm just curious who will be the first to sell a car with an 800-volt NACS charge port.

Ford? GM? Hyundai? VW? Porsche? Kia? Lucid? Rivian?

Most of them will likely need higher power grid connections to deliver more than 250 kW per vehicle, at least during peak usage times. I'm sure some have the needed power close by and others will have to wait.

Personally, I'm pretty happy with 250 kW, but I can see how some people would like more to shave off 5 minutes of charging.

It’s the same not better than V3 in anyway in regards to charging speeds at the moment.

It's a good idea to set the charger as a destination so the battery will prepare itself for supercharging!

Stopped by this new SC to see the progress. Looks like getting close to completed. Tried to charge but nothing would work. Looks like these might be fully v4. Up to 1000v DC.

Looks great, the Buckee's I visited just had them completed within the last month or so and kept all the v3's as well.
