I put the last 6 digits of my VIN in my sig, but I can understand why some would be wary of posting identifiable info online. The scrape bots never sleep.

Agree, I feel the same way with license plates being blurred out in pics. Everyday I drive thousands of people can see and take pics of my license plate. Am I missing something?

In the great Information Age, what we post online is instantly accessible by billions of people around the world. Forever.

You may be surprised to learn that my actual name is not “Cyber Gus”. Sure, I’ve posted enough online to allow the highly motivated to piece together my personal information. But that’s no reason to make it easy on them.

Doesn’t matter, Google already knows who you are. They already know everything about you. It’s an illusion of safety.

This is why.

A disgruntled employee at Tesla finds your VIN then disables your truck.
Well, in that case, even a partial Vin number they’d able to find a truck relatively quickly. Luckily I already took off my anti-aircraft missiles from the cyber beast and replaced it with a militia of adozen armed kittens.
