Mine had that exposed until I had the extra slat added. It may take the service center to round up the labor for the job. It is a four man job.

Holes aren’t straight through. Mine are very prominent and water doesn’t get into the vault after Tesla replaced the seal between the roof glass and appliqué. 44k VIN. IIRC, up to low 50k VINs are also affected.

Adding a slat is on my list of items to take care of next time I take it to service.
My VIN is 52xxx (Nov 15, 2024 build date) and it was missing the slat. Had the SC install it back in February and they did a perfect job.

Interesting. I only looked yesterday. I'm VIN 64xxx, with a build date of February 2025. And, yes, I've got holes in the slat. Will schedule a service visit in the app. My wireless charge mat also doesn't seem to work. Is that also a known thing?

Well, it seems like the factory is just building them missing the slat and only installing it if people ask. I guess it saves on parts cost :).

Honestly, I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for this forum and ppl mentioning it lol.

By the way, I see you're in Maine...we're driving up to Acadia next week. So, if you see a CT driving around with MA plates and 2 English Labs, that's me. :)

Noticed these holes between bed cover and body. Does all the trucks have this?

Thanks for asking this question. I just assumed that is the way it was. I asked the question to my local service center since water was also getting in to the vault. They confirmed water leaking into the vault and added two slats, no questions asked, no cost to me. Looks much better and keeps out all the tree leaves and seeds. This forum is great for helping folks out. Thanks again.
