We've cracked a few glass roofs. We've had friends who have. Even customers have reached out with this issue.

So, we decided to do something about it.

After experimenting with several different films, we actually ended up working with a manufacturer to create a PPF that did it all: Heat rejection, TPU protection from rock chips, hydrophobic and self-healing properties, and comes in different shades to choose from.

And since it's not regular tint, it's installed from the outside, making it easier for DIYers.

Let me know if you have any questions! We'll have a YouTube video out soon on the Cybertruck Tinted Roof PPF install.

I've noticed that these external tint/protection films are becoming more available. Some brands like CarPro even have them for the windshield, though I doubt anything would hold up well to wipers over time. The glass roof seems like a pretty great place to put it and external mounting makes it even better.

I'm just not sure if I need it for the IR part, since the OEM solution for the roof glass seems to do a great job. I can feel a significant difference when moving from sunlight through the windshield to the roof.

Might still order it for the chip protection though. Also nice that it rejects IR before it passes through the glass panel, should help reduce heat gain in the panel since it doesn't travel through the glass twice.

Hi Folks,
As @AverageJoe asked, I would like to know as well.
If anyone ends up getting this please let me know if this affects connectivity via interior mounted Starlink.
Thanks.

Exactly. it's more for rock protection since it already is coated and has UV/IR protection.

@TESBROS don't ignore this question. There are a lot of us out there with starlink in our windows and looking for good solutions for this.
Oops sorry I missed this. I have a cybertruck in the shop for a full build and we'll be installing the roof PPF on it and installing Starlink Mini so I can report back to see if it messes with anything and report back. Don't want to say anything without 100% certainty. Stay tuned.

I am very interested in this. The 20% off code I got for signing up says it’s invalid.

Warranty VOID? Even with this external PPF, the Tesla service center could deny a glass roof warranty claim. It’s an aftermarket modification, and Tesla has the discretion to decide whether it contributed to any failure.
I contacted a friend at the White Plains, NY SC, and he said a mechanic will most likely void the glass replacement if a spontaneous glass break occurs and he sees the film. I like the product but not enough to pay $2700 for a voided glass roof.

I have the blue ppf on my roof, it is a game-changer. Have had it for almost a year now. From the outside you can't tell it is blue. From the inside adds a nice touch of color on the view to the outside. And it makes a big difference as far as heat coming in. I bought the blue becasue of the higher VLT and IR rejection properties. No regrets. Haven't tried it yet with Starlink so can't advise there.

So I can’t speak to this product specifically, but when I went through this debacle with my windshield tint and had to redo it I learned a little about the subject.
Basically, it can’t have any metal in it. So high quality 100% ceramic tints work.
I tested it by putting my mini outside and laying different small pieces of tint on it. All you need is about an a4 sheet of paper size sample so maybe they can send you one to try out and you can report back?

No offense, but they have to find it on there to void the warranty.

Yeah. Depends on the tech. Some of them are completely non-observant and you could probably transplant an ICE in the frunk without them noticing.
Either way, if your glass cracks you can just climb up in the bed and pull off the ppf before you bring it in.
They have no way to know that.
Pulling the ppf off the entirety of my first truck took less than 15 minutes.
