Ok, so my knees aren't what they were in my 20's. I was taught that if you can put your knee there, you can put your foot there. But my days of bouldering are long gone. I now have trouble getting into the bed easily. Yes even in 'entry' mode. Had the same problem in my old Tundra too. So. I saw somewhere, probably on this forum someone built grab handles that mounted to the rack mount at the rear. I think they were carbon fiber, or 3d printed, or both. Problem is i have a roof rack. its not the OEM one, but i think in some ways this one is superior.

Got it from @RPM TESLA so kudos guys. it has 4 different length rails, rather than telescoping ones. The front one has my marker lights, tail lights, and deer whistles. I chose to remove the 4th rail as it blocks the use of the bed and i can't open the door of my fridge. I still keep the rail with me in the bed, so if I need it, its handy. only takes about 2 minutes and one tool to remount it, as i leave the roof mounts on and only take the rail. This leaves a good mounting point for a grab handle. I thought out several designs and finally simplified things. what i came up with is a motorcycle footpeg mounted to the inside of the roof brackets. it doesn't interfere with the rail if i want it on, and it stows facing forward, for minimal wind resistance.

I wouldn't say it was super sturdy, after all it's just a roof mount, but it seems to be all i need, just a little grab and pull to get me started. Anyhow, thought I'd share, as there could be someone in the same boat, err, truck, err, truck that floats?

That is brilliant. Don’t think the oem mounts can come apart like that but I’d replicate it if they could.

Robert,

Great topic. I am right where you are.

I have been working on the same thing - a mounted handle to provide a degree of safety and assist when climbing into and out of the truck bed. I am focusing on something that can be mounted in the L tracks. That way it will be easily movable and out of sight when the tonneau cover is closed.

I will post some pictures after I play around a little more with a couple of ideas. I could not believe there is not any L track handle on the market!

(Now if we can just get Tesla to include a molded step in the factory bumpers.)

The handle in the attachment bay is a more robust solution. This has been working for me:

D-ring L-track.webp
So you just grab the carabiner attached to the l-track ? Is that what you mean? You may have a point there, I think Cybertruckco and maybe a few others make a crossbar that can fit on the l-track. Even a Tesla or aftermarket crossbar in roof-rack position 4 might do the trick as a good grab handle but then there is the aerodynamic cost of keeping it on. Can’t imagine that’s terribly much. Anyone know if that’s impactful?

Yeah, I just grab it. It's more floppy than ideal, but it's enough to get me up on the tailgate w/o fuss.

Yes, an actual handle would be superior. Didn't see anything at cybertruckco, did find these on Amazon. Price seems steep, might shop around before pulling the trigger. Adding a handle of some sort to that would be straight forward.

I just use a black milk create, when the truck in in Entry level, I grabbed 8 crates Monday morning in the back of a C store, power washed them last night, easy enough for tools, and I store an empty one in the frunk. It makes a great boost step and saves my knees for a 61-year-old Cyberbeast owner.
I just ordered the inside L track flagpole holders for both of my Beasts, I thick these will make great grab handles, hidden when the cover is closed, they will be delivered today, ill post pictures.

Great idea on the flagpole holders. Thanks all.

Now, if we could just find a good grab handle for climbing into the passenger seat, my wife would be super happy!
Power running boards from Amazon working great for my wife.
