Just saw a new video that shows some footage of the view of the front camera while driving at slow speeds. Noticed there were pathing lines, similar to those shown while in reverse. Since the camera is right of center, the path lines as shown skewed as well. Pretty useful feature.

nice, i'll be interested to see that in person

in the raptor, the camera distortion and forward pathing lines tended to give me a bit of sea-sickness, and i'll be interested to see if Tesla's done this better

admittedly, i get motion sick real easy

Anyone notice that the speed of the front facing camera was multiple times faster than the speed he was going? Seemed like he noticed the glitch cause he quickly switched views.

Probably just the perspective since the camera is so much closer to the ground. I was driving around with my rear camera on today and noticed how much farther vehicles behind me appear on the camera vs real life. I wonder if this will be the same with the Cybertruck rear camera or if they have a way to correct the perspective for "rear mirror" mode.

If you watch around 5:45 mark you can see he is slowly driving forward but the r front camera makes it appear as through he is traveling 20mph.

Yeah, that looks wacky. I think it's a combination of wide angle lens on the camera and close to ground perspective. At first it looked like the camera was displaying a completely different location since you can't see the building in the recording camera perspective. Looking closer at the onscreen front camera, you can see the concrete barriers, but the color range is higher than the recording camera.

This is why I'm apprehensive about the rear camera replacing the rear mirror. Our eyes view at about 50mm focus but that wide angle rear camera will make things appear much farther away. If they're only cropping down the image and applying it to the rear view onscreen window, it's not a great analogue for a rear view mirror.

Does anyone else drive with the rear camera on and use it instead of their rear mirror?

I use to, when traffic was heavy and I got itchy about making lane changes.

Now I use FSD and let the car deal with lane changes...less stress.

not only that but a mirror is 3D—monitor is 2D…

I have used my rear cam since 2017 for nearly 99% of my situational awareness on my MS. I guess I’ve used it so much that I have adapted to the 2D of it.

We need bumper guidelines ? I got to sit in an RC, and that dash is SOOO DEEP. And can’t see the hood. And now that Teslas don’t have Radar Sensors….what are we gonna do? Haha.
