I posted this over in the most used modifications thread, but also wanted to create a new post on it. I saw similar posts in the Rivian forum (when we were researching Rivian & pop-up campers), and since these types of posts were helpful to me, I thought this post might be helpful to someone here.

The availability of bolt-on racks that allow pop-up campers made the decision to buy the Cybertruck an easy one for us. We decided to go with the Cybertruckco camper due to the overall durability (stainless panel construction), smooth exterior, rear closing/locking hatch, and a cohesive design (We have had people ask us when Tesla started making these, haha).

As far as I know, this is the only wedge style camper for the Cybertruck that has access to the bunk from the bed of the truck on the market. (We have seen other prototypes but this is the only one that I know of that's in production.) This makes it super handy for us as we can flip up both halves of the bed to allow a hang out area for inclement weather. We are still building it out, but coming from a VW Vanagon Westfalia background, we have high hopes for much simpler build but with the same usefulness.

The build quality is very solid and modifiable and you really don't feel like you have a camper on the truck when you're on the road. We tend to do a lot of camping throughout California and wanted something that would get us into forest roads, Death Valley, etc with an easy camping setup or make camping stops at campgrounds much easier. So far I have spent a couple nights camping, and the mattress that comes with it has been comfortable.

I posted a couple places as it's a relatively new product and certainly don't mind getting the word out about it. I feel it's solidly built and a good value. I had this installed down in San Diego by Cybertruckco. www.cybertruckco.com My experience was excellent and I would recommend them.

We also added the internal stainless Molle panels (also holds insulation against the sides), and will upfit them with boxes, accessories, catch-alls, etc. I'll probably put some more posts up as we get further along in the build, but hopefully this information can help someone else who's researching.

Wow this is awesome! Thanks for posting this. 2 things…
1. How is the tent experience? It looks small in the pics so just wondering what the tent/sleeping experience is like with 1 or 2 persons.
2. Please don’t call it a “bunk” lmao we will accept “smugglers bay” “sub trunk” or “gear locker”

The tent experience is great! The bed is 48" by 88" (had to check their website). This was one of the first questions I had as I'm just a bit over 6 ft tall. I was comfortable in it and think it will work well for my wife and I, not a problem.

The mattress that came with it is pretty comfortable (not quite as comfortable as our Exped inflatable, but I was able to get more than a full night sleep on it).

I probably misspoke on the bunk portion, haha! I meant to say upper bunk or mattress bed or second floor. ? In any case, you can access it from the bed of the truck. The camper mattress bed splits in two (almost a 60/40 split including the front portion). Pretty much you hop up there on the matress, fold the other side down and you're in business!

Haha, oh no! The Smugglers Bay nomenclature is safe ?

That's what really stoked me about this build is you can access everything and stay dry when it's raining! BTW, both sides of the mattress fold up to where you can literally stand in the truck bed and can't touch the peak of the tent.

It really reminds me of my VW Westy. Same feeling when you're standing inside of it.

I’d love to see more pics from the inside of the bed and tent. I’d get this setup if I didn’t get the cyber tent. I’d prefer this setup. It’s awesome.

I'll see if I can get a few more pictures or maybe a short video up showing a walkthrough.

Might be a day or so depending on work, weather and Tesla (currently they have the truck to address minor delivery items and the infamous key card pillar issue that popped up). The Tesla tech was pretty flummoxed when he saw the camper ?Should be getting it back within the next day or so though.

I don't think they have a walk-through video up, but they have some more pictures of the camper up on their website. https://cybertruckco.com/product/cybertruckco-cybercamper/

I’d love to know how it is with dust intrusion. I’m a desert dweller. Looks great.

Yeah, I saw the pics on the website of the inside. That's an awesome setup. I wish I had gone with that.

Haven't had experience (yet) with really dusty conditions. Even at the earliest, it would probably be fall for us to visit the deserts (snow stuff, then rafting, then Big Sur stuff currently lining up).

I can say our camper was installed with a full gasket around the perimeter, the back hatch has a gasket too, and between the hard wedge top and the lower portion of the camper there is a gasket to seal the tent up.

Best bet would be to call the company directly as I know they do a lot of desert camping and adventuring in adjacent areas (Anza-Borrego desert, etc).

The tent looks pretty slick (great aerodynamics too). We've seen some videos on it and it looks great for when you will be at one place for a little while.

For us it was a no-go as my wife and I really wanted to have dogs close by, but not in the same bed as us ?. Currently we're thinking of some sort of bench/kennel combo downstairs.

Sounds great. I appreciate the information.

Nope. No ladder needed. This is one of the reasons we went with it. You can flip up the bed on the inside and use it as a hangout in bad weather.

In that respect it's kind of like a Gofast type of camper. Instead of the bed being made up of panels that you stack to remove, you have two main panels that are on gas struts that fold up and out of the way inside.

You can access the bed from the inside (fold down one side and hop up there, then fold down the other side) or you could set up an a ladder from the outside if you want. It doesn't come with a ladder.

I'll try to get a walk-through video up when I get it back from Tesla (service). It's probably the best way to show how everything works. The pictures on the website are pretty good though.

We include all of the weather seals for the CyberCamper, but dust will come through the tailgate gap and the tonneau cover slot, you have to seal those on your own. I used a 5x6' grass rug from Amazon with a 1.38" tall blade, trimmed the back to fit the bed and the extra 2" length I stuffed into the tail gate gap. I like the bright green contrast on the floor and the grass hides all the dust and dirt, easy to sweep, vacuum or hose it off.

I still need to get a solution for the tonneau cover slot.
