Why is Tesla in the lead in for the article. Two adults survive Tesla plunges 250 feet off California Cliff?

Not sure why you think the media hates Tesla, and would only publish articles against Tesla.
Experience.

Per your "making money" argument, the automotive industry spends $10B annually on advertising, none from Tesla.

Good point. And I agree that is very true with media like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, etc. But I don't think it's quite as true with the more generic media sources, like NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN... I could be wrong there, but that is how I see it.

Right, because I never see car commercials on CBS. /s

I do see TSLAQ shorts like Gordon Johnson get plenty of airtime, though.

i must say i am impressed with the safety for occupants in most of these Tesla accidents.
the random acceleration thing that was happening some weeks ago was super sus imo. i know everyone says "its iMpoSsible!!! reeeeee" but the fact that the drivers were safe in those is accidents too, is reassuring

I grew up on the coast and worked as a volunteer fireman for several years. I have repelled down that very bank and it is steep but not a straight drop. the south end of the road has no guard rail and there is a turn out area next to the old bunker.
I marked the end point and possible path of the car.

I've never been there, but it looks from video from the scene that the point of rest for the car was at the arrow below (looked to be just below the denuded slide path). Witness reports said they were driving south at a high rate of speed (from the direction of the paved parking lot) so I think a possible path was the yellow line. This route would help explain how the crash was survivable because of the bowl shape of the slope and inertia of the car, it would have tended to slow the deceleration to survivable levels because of the long path the car took. (Not taking anything away from the safety of Tesla vehicles) ?

I see what you mean. It does look like it is closer to what you indicated. That would be a more difficult trajectory, but I guess with determination anything is possible.

I don’t know, I’ve driven the PCH from LA to the very north most corner of California.

I have to say the Oregon Coast is probably better per square mile, but perhaps not as good overall. I’ll have to take some time when I get my Cybertruck and compare them.
Let me know when you go. Maybe I'll come down from the Blue mountains and compare with you. I driven most of the Oregon coast down to Northern California, but only glimpsed the California coast as a kid.

Ooo… I’ve been wanting to ride the Elkhorns for some time, a reliable source suggests it’s one of the best trails in the state. Easy sell to my wife since the hotel in Baker is supposed to be haunted and my wife loves that stuff.

There is also the Hot springs hotel just outside of Union. It is still in the process of upgrades by a new owner and management. But, they have a theater, bar, and lodging... and it has been on the "Most haunted" list for quite a while being an historic sanitarium/hospital/therapeutic hot springs. Oh, and the concept seems to be similar to McMenamins for the theater and food/drink.
I have not stayed at either the Geiser Grand or the Hot springs, so I don't know how good the beds and amenities are.
