For the Cybertruck, I would suggest you could do about 85% of the EPA rating at a steady 65 mph. Want to go faster? Subtract some more range. But I never worry about speed in my Model 3's on a long trip because the Supercharging is so fast, it doesn't matter. If I'm trying to get home from a day trip out of town without making a charging stop, I might slow down to 65 so I'm not cutting it too close. But there's never range anxiety because it's so easy to stop, if I have to, and throw on some additional miles.
If you believe what the media tells you, you would think every charge stop is a lengthy ordeal. If we're not on a lengthy, multi-state road trip, but we have been driving around on a weekend get-away, we might stop 100 miles from home for a quick little 5 minute touch-up stop and a quick pee. If we are on a long multi-state Interstate trip that requires sequential Supercharging, we tend to drive for 2 1/2-3 hours and charge for 10-15 minutes. More often than not, the car is ready to leave before we are!
If I get 130 KWh usable battery in CT on Tesla network, I will be fine regardless of how they market or label the range. I did a 170 mile trip in my Lightning last weekend and I was able to get 2.8 mi/KWh out of it. I am sure I will be able to get that out of CT at higher speeds. ‘The main attraction of 500 mile is when battery has aged and 70% of capacity is left, it is still usable but by then, some of the cells may fail for other reasons and you may have to replace the whole pack anyway (because everything is glued together) so long term 500 may not be as wise of a choice as it may seem.500 mile feels insane though. I feel like I'd want to pull over before I used all of that. It definitely has its appeal, I could be convinced, my arm could be twisted to pony up the extra for it... almost. Depends on the day and my bank balance at the time
