I ask why they didn't make a 250 mile version and chop 5k off the price......... I certainly don't need 500 miles, 200 miles seems to work for me.

350...not much better than the Lightning. 350 with 800V architecture and 350kW charging speed, much better. Pulling an Airstream Basecamp 16X, top off using 50 amp service at an RV campground.

I would like to get the quad (more bad ass) with at least 350 range. My model 3 is down to 275 full range from 310 and other then probably wanting to go more remote in the CT shouldn’t be a challenge to have 350. Maybe a solar panel to feed some juice can make up the difference. I don’t plan to tow a trailer so even though I wanted 500 mile range it is not a deal breaker. We have all waited long enough. Hopefully that means we are getting more truck and more coolness. HW4, 350kw charging, 48v, V12 FSD, etc.

Obviously you should just wait! I mean who would want the embarassing task of driving somethng with such minimal range. Worse than a Leaf or I3.

AND you'll be losing points on the EV male hunk scale and probably won't even be able to get a date. I'm tell you this for your own good. Driving a low range EV is not only a social mistake but probably dangerous. I know this from experience. I mistaking bought a Lightning with the bigger battery and found out the hard way. It's hard to drive with a paper bag over your head.

Honestly I'd just cancel to send Tesla a message. For sure don't take one for a year or two.

Summer with no AC? Whatchu talkin' about? Where do you live that you can just throw out a "summer w/no AC" like that? Alaska? No such thing
C-Man,

Come hang with me for a weekend brother! SoCal, by the beach. We do 75% of the summer in the 70’s and very little humidity. Lots of sunshine for the PV Panels, and then there is the beach… Need I say more.

It only costs you an arm, a leg, your firstborn, and a lifetime of indentured servitude!

Dude, you are retired and worried about picking up chicks with batteries?

What is your pickup line? “Wanna check out my pack? A ride on 4680 can get wild…’

Good for you.

If you plan to tow / carry a heavy load in the Vault, you will effectively be cutting your range by up to 50%. That, and the fact that many SuCs don't have pull through spots for vehicles pulling a trailer (and those that do, for the most part, only have 1-2 of those type of stalls currently) should influence your decision on how much range you actually need from the battery pack.

Heavy load does not seem to have as much impact as towing unless you are going uphill. But I agree with your overall point that EVs and long distance towing can get challenging in current environment and every additional KWh counts.

I've been thinking about this since someone, somewhere mentioned the 350 mile range version. I think for me it would really depend. I want the best version but I don't know if I could wait an extra year, for example. I could just take the first one available and then sell it to get the 500 mile version when it comes out but it could be a long wait. At 250,000 a year, it would take 4 years for Tesla to just work through their backlog.

I think a better poll would be
1. Take the 350 mile version if the 500 mile version has an unknown or very long wait.
2. If the 500 mile version is going to come out in 6 months, I'd wait.
3. If the 500 mile version is going to come out in 1 year, I'd wait.
4. I'd wait on the 500

I did a no AC trip last weekend (well, 5-10 minutes AC in 4 hrs drive) in MD-PA. AM was cool enough to go with fan only when needed and PM with windows down. I am not sure if windows down does more damage to the range than AC but that was comfortable. AM was in 70s and PM in 80s. On 90s sunny days with my big windows, you are right; no way I could do without AC.
In a ICE car, the break even point was around 40-45mph. Above that, your A/C was more efficient. Below that, rolling the windows down was more efficient. I would guess that with the improved aero of most BEVs, the crossover is maybe 5mph slower. And on a Tesla, as efficient as the heat pump appears to be, crossover is probably another 5mph.

Once again, not enough reasonable options in the poll choices. Totally depends on price/range + feature override vs competition. 350 miles range for USD$59k: Yep I'm in. 350 miles range for USD$99k: hard pass.
I am with you, even though I want the 500. It is my understanding on Teslas, the entire battery pack is replaceable. So, if they only bring out 350 mile because of the lack of batteries, if they leave room for the full 500 in the chassis, then I would take it at the right price. But, if the price is wrong, I will pass and wait.

Yes and yes. Just trying to reduce the line in front. One preorder at a time!

Been waiting for 3 years..... 350 or 500 who will really be silly enough to care..... 350 just you need to charge x2 often compare to 500.... 99% do not drive more than 300 miles a day anyway.

The 500 mile range is significant to those of us who plan to do remote camping, boondocking, or festivals. The range loss caused by towing a trailor or a installing a camping add-on will be significant. Even in day-to-day use, the 80-20 rule for battery-friendly charging cuts the range by 40%. All in all, the 500 mile range is very important to me, and a 350 mile CT would be a deal-killer.
