Many of us that currently own a Tesla do not utilize the frunk because the hood is relatively fragile and requires care when closing. If the frunk lid was powered, more would use this space. Based on the standard goose-neck hinges on the CT hood, my guess is that it is a manual setup. This probably will not be a big deal since the hood is stainless steel and can be shut with normal force.
And thus, humans evolved to be without arms, because there was no need.

Real question.
What is the concern with a powered frunk lid? Never once have I ever heard someone complain about not having a powered hood on an ICE truck. I don't even know if they make such a thing.

Do people want the frunk lid powered because they view it more like an SUV tailgate now?
Honestly though I think people get ahead of themselves with features and expectations. As long as it has assist for gravity my needs are met. I never have my vehicles open until I get to them preferably.

With a little upholstery work, the frunk could look like the old trunk "rumble seats".

It would be fun at the drive-in theater or your next "tailgate" party... might need a recliner style footrest.

With the hood up for shade/rain protection my wife and I could raise the front suspension, lower the rear so we could slightly recline.

On the reveal event didn't they have the plugs in the bed, which would make sense since they most likely were not considering frunk as high use or important at the time. Most likely the intro of the mega frunk from Ford had them redesign frunk but keep the outlets in the rear.
i was thinking the same thing

this is the pic ive been waiting for but, No outlets?
where is this expectation is coming from for huge frunk and outlets?!
are you using your frunk outlets now with QX50? have you seen any other non-tesla EV under the hood?
you want huge frunk and outlets - go buy F150L - available now!
stop whining, vote with your wallet :)

LOl, no need to get so aggressive! Obviously, I will buy what I want, Captain Obvious, but I'm surprised it's not included in such a technologically advanced vehicle. Seems like an easy thing for Tesla to include, considering the competition, as you so aptly put it, already has it. I wasn't aware that observations weren't allowed on this forum, sorry if your delicate sensibilities were offended. And by the way I don’t drive a QX50 I drive a model Y.

I think the frunk looks awesome, and way better than any other Tesla or the original renders, which looked small. Switching to the lifting grill is a game-changer for accessibility. And it should make an obnoxious seat for watching outdoor concerts or kids sporting events.

Frunk grief. It's a thing, especially for those grievers who are so afflicted with Frunk Size Envy that they've earned the label "frunkster".

With these new, undeniable images, the few grieving fruncksters who were still in the Denial stage will no longer be able to dwell there, but must now join the rest of the frunkstrers who have been raging through the second stage of grief - Anger. Sadly, we will all suffer through that stage for a while. The next stage - Bargaining - will be thankfully brief because Tesla's customer support page's list of contact topics doesn't have a "Frunk" selection. As they move to the next stage, may our frunksters find the strength to race through Depression to finally arrive at the Acceptance stage as quickly as possible. That would be merciful and a gift to all of us. /s
Frunk envy is a despicable feeling accompanied by general dissatisfaction with live itself. And understandable so. And while I would never judge another by the size of their frunk, I certainly would not like my daughter to marry someone with a such an undersized front storage area. Statistics have shown us that frunk size has little bearing on real frunk satisfaction. And while I doubt anyone actually believes this frunk size dribble, mistruths continue to this day.

Of course it’s easy to downplay such a trivial aspect of a truck when you have the BIGGEST FRUNK in the civilized world! Not that I’m bragging or anything.

Ok I’ll stop now.

Its wider than the Lightning frunk and I'm pretty sure it'll fit 2 carry bags drivers included. I'm 6'5" with a long driver among other things ...
Wonder if Optimus as a Caddy or Spare Driver, could fit in the Frunk when all your mates or Fam are on board. Then it truly is a 6 'seater' ;)
BTW About your driver.......!!!!!
