Like most of you I am staggered by the double gut shot of both a ginormous price increase combined with a surprising reduction in range to the anemic level.

I originally ordered the tri-motor but am now struggling with what to do. Do I settle for the dual, buy the beast or just cancel all together?

The fact I am even considering cancellation is shocking to me personally. I KNOW how long I have waited and how much I want this truck. That I am seriously considering cancellation tells me there are a lot more cancellations already out there!

I have seen some analysts predict a very low conversion rate of 20% reservations-to-orders. Based on my feelings personally and observations on this board, I believe this is a reasonable guess and at that rate, even with 2 million pre-orders and a slow ramp up, Tesla will be done making Cybertrucks in just over 2 years. What then? Keep a boutique CT line open? Or convert it over to a more profitable world car production factory?

IMHO, without a meaningful decrease in price and a corresponding increase in range the CT will cease production in 2-3 years. If I have figured this out, so has TESLA.

It would be ironic, if in the end Elons Musk’s Cybertruck was to once again follow the tracks of John DeLorean’s DMC12, into history. Your move ELON.

2 million times 20% is still ~400k units. Boutique compared to current Model Y run rate, but certainly nothing to sneeze at.

I expect when (not if) demand for the primo variants of the truck start to taper off, prices for the current editions will slide, de-contented editions will be added, etc to take this thing as far down market as they need to. $20k jumps between tiers is a bit too steep. This will get fixed when the new and shiny wears off.

Not fun to have to keep waiting longer. But Tesla set the pricing high enough to capture the interest for themselves and cut into the mythical "scalper" margins. All makes perfect sense to me.

Right there with you my dude. I’ve been waiting for this thing since the first tweet of him mentioning he wants to make a truck. Been on the forums and X for hours a day for four years checking for updates. After the reveal ended it was an oh shit moment to me that price and range were not mentioned. Knowing it could be different but not giving into speculation. It was disappointing. After consideration the AWD is basically the same stats as the M3LR I’ve been driving the last two years on range and acceleration. After the experience of ownership I understand the EV nuances and accept the AWD as a practical choice. Now there is a tax credit that wasn’t available at the reveal so that bridges the gap a little bit. Definitely this is disappointing in a few regards but even better in some. Vented seats weren’t a thing for Tesla in 19.

Im still in but disappointed I’m not getting 500 miles or a 2.9 0-60.

Disappointed in Elon Musk. In 2019, he promised a "working" truck. He delivered a high end vehicle for the same people that can afford a model X or S. I think mot of us wanted a good price, good range and a tough truck. Only one out of 3. I think less than 10% will buy it at that price.

It's $100 you haven't missed in 4 years. Save your money until your number is called. By then you would have made a wiser decision.

It will be interesting to see iterations with the range extender.. that would be a game changer if they can truly figure that out better than the initial.. they may not.. but if they could flatten it a little more or make it easier to get out and in (not needing a service trip). If that somehow is easier to connect and disconnect in home, that’s gives the 470 range I need infrequently, but would be handy.. now the price will come down I bet.. maybe not significantly, but enough
