Seems as if there is little rhyme or reason to those who are receiving order invitations. As someone holding 112748xx I figured I’d be getting a letter, esp. since I’ve seen a couple of later numbers allegedly getting g notices; but instead I receive repeated suggestions I buy a Y while I wait. Disappointing.

Price increases were not a surprise to me, but range disappointment is great.

Have they abandoned the reservation list?

It wouldn't make sense, but are we sure that they gave out the numbers in a particular order? I ordered right when they enabled it during the unveiling and supposedly there was almost 50,000 people in front of me? It does seem like they're basing it on location and when you reserved and maybe a little randomness added in as well. Some folks may also be missing out because they didn't have their location added correctly or in the app with possibly a previous Tesla product?

Also, not sure if it matters when you get the offer. If you get an offer later this week and you had a lower reservation number, maybe you'll get it sooner than somebody who got the offer yesterday with a higher reservation number.

When Tesla starts production on a drastically new vehicle, they've always started with orders near the factory(s), so that any initial issues can be addressed quickly (and discreetly). They ~always have a Founders/Signature Edition at the very start. And during the initial ramp, they roll out local to the factories, then regional, then eventually to the rest of the continent.
This happened with the Model S, this happened with the Model X, and it happened with the Model 3. (It did not so much with the Model Y, but that was basically a puffed-out Model 3, not a significantly new vehicle.
As @Crissa says above, they are following the reservations within geographical regions. No one knows the exact algorithms, but all the reservations are RN112XXXXXX numbers. If they were just "abandoning" the reservation list, you'd see RN115s, RN117s, RN120s getting to configure.

I think they are picking out random numbers in specific locations from a pool of about 50k atm.

I agree that’s what they are doing. I don't understand the benefit to tesla. If they skip 100 reservations for one guy, 99 are unhappy and one guy is happy. How is that good for them?

Technically, there is NO confidence in the order tracker, because it does not come from Tesla, and is just fan based.

We don't even know for sure if Tesla numbers are handed out sequentially at all.
So this might be their internal order based on location or other metric. We don't know.

Also apparently there are now more than 1000 Foundation series being offered to scoop up the desperadoes in the early pool with too much cash.

Either way picking random reservations from a early "group" of reservations might actually be a bit fairer that relying on random delays from your ISP or glitches on their server at the time?

My thoughts have changed for Tesla, since the delivery event. First, they didn't produce the CT with specs and features they said it would have, and then they jacked up the price. I don't care if Elon didn't say I promise. If you watch the reveal, Elon's exact words when they posted the prices on the big video board were, "that's the price without any incentives". He was very proud and confident with that. Anyway, I'm priced out, and I can't imagine the emotions some of you very early reservation folks "that have money burning in your pocket" are going through. When you see all of us later reservation holders got an email to configure. It's gotta piss off a lot of you. I'm sorry, Tesla has really disappointed a lot of folks lately.

they don't go by that... it's by geographical location.
It might not be in order of reservation number within a geographical region. The reservation number may just be a tiebreaker for distance from factory.
