One rentable? Clarification?

They didn't expect you to stand in lines for years. You'll probable get a chance to sit in one soon, but just not now.

This will be the 3rd Tesla that I've bought without sitting in it. I at least got to see this one before I ordered. The other two were ordered unseen, except for online.

And there are a lot of folks like me.

There are Model S, X, 3, and Ys that Tesla will be happy for you to sit in, even drive.

It's a Tesla early release product, reality is going to be different from any other car you've experienced, Might not be great, but it will be different.
It looked to me like someone above was saying they cant let you test drive because they aren't a "dealership". Short term rental would be a way around that.

Anyway, just because you're willing to buy without seeing, doesn't mean its unreasonable to require as a buyer. And I do.

You can indeed possibly get a test drive from the showroom, but not in a Cybertruck.
They'd love for you to take a spin in one of the other cars. And I suspect that you would learn a LOT from that. 90% of the experience is going to be similar. For a test drive, you can set it up here. https://ts.la/ed68138

Who cares about if you can or cannot sit in a showroom vehicle. Boo-hoo.... seriously.
That makes more sense now. Wasn't quite sure which post you referring to.

I know, there are lots of people who will buy a car and never test drive it and often never sit in it.

But then there are those who must "experience the vehicle" Snuggle with it, make love to it,

I assume that anyone who bought one of the first EV trucks wasn't able to test drive it. How many Hummers were on the dealer lot? Was Rivian doing a roadshow and letting everyone drive the R1T? Most dealers weren't letting people test drive the one Lightning they had on site.

It's unfortunate, but it's also common for new releases. If a buyer wants a traditional purchase scenario, then they can't get the newest release.

Blows my mind that at the dealerships we still can’t get close enough to the CT to get a better look. You would think that at the very least if you have a FS order in, they would let you check it out. Such BS. And the guy in the Charlotte Tesla was a complete tool. Wanted to punch his stupid face in.
I haven't seen the Cybertruck in person yet and Charlotte is the closest location I can see one. But by the sounds of your post, I don't want to deal with the dude you encountered.

So I take it you're not getting it then?

To be clear. I don’t need to test drive it, I’m just thinking that it would be reasonable to be able to check out the inside of the truck. It’s pretty silly that they won’t let you sit inside of it. It’s a freaking truck. Who gives a F%*^ about finger prints. People that are buying this truck don’t care about that. They’re guarding it like it’s going to break if someone gets too close to it. It’s silly.

How far away are you? I would highly recommend seeing it in person. Just know that you’ll just have to stand a couple of feet away from it. It’s so cool in person though

Greenville, SC area so just a couple hours away. Part of me wants to see it in person and part of me wants to wait and get the initial excitement when I get mine or see one in the wild.

First of all, let me apologize for the prickishness of my reply yesterday. My bad. Sorry.

Second, from a local level I think the reps hands are tied on this. It's clearly a mandate from on high that no one gets to sit in or touch the showroom trucks. The problem for these poor peeps is that if they let someone do that, that person is most likely to sneak pics and then post them on a MB in excitement. Then when Tesla finds out, that rep loses their job.

As to why Tesla corporate wouldn't allow this, who knows? It can be a weird company at times...

You're going to be very disappointed at delivery. They won't even let you inside your own truck until you've already accepted delivery in the app.

No for sure is not on the rep, I know their hands are tied and if i was them i also wouldnt break Company policy over some random person. I just want to understand the reason behind it and he didn’t give me an answer nor did he care… anyway, yeah Tesla seems to do things their way and it seems to work, so what do i know.. haha

Yup. That's exactly what my experience was with my M3 in 2018 minus the app thing. I basically had to sign off on it before I could even get inside. Hahaha
