I remember though that the invites are specifically for FS. No one reported being invited for a regular AWD.

Yeah not clear. Hopefully if you still have the same Reservation number you’ll keep your place in line when the regular AWD comes out. Only time will tell, I wish we could get concrete answers.

I can confirm this too. I was told this by a Tesla sales rep today. My FS will revert to a regular order if I want.

I am a little concerned since I was texted that revised doc's would be sent shortly. Not sure if that was in Elon time or what I expected which was today.

I reached out a second time today by text to thank them and ask how the revised doc's would come and a reply was sent quickly saying by email.

You have to have an order and you need to reply to the contacts you have via text. Do not call a random customer service rep. They are not all on the same page.

Spoke to 3 Tesla reps today from 3 different cities here in socal. They all gave me the same answer. Once your vin is assigned, you can downgrade your order from FS to standard

This is pretty interesting, because once your VIN is assigned, then your car is scheduled to be manufactured and the interior is different for the Foundation series as well as it has a badge, too.

Not my post you show as mine. I never said that.

In fact on my original post I said just the opposite. In bold I said that I did not have a a vin yet I was able to go ahead and change my order.

If this is correct I’m guessing it means you can apply the thousand dollars to a non FS truck When they start producing them. You’ll have to wait till FS series are done being produced.

I asked in case I wanted to pull the trigger on these sub $40k Model Ys with the PoS tax credit.

After seeing the low offer on my Lightning I will need to throw extra dollars at it to trade/sell. I also thought you could only take the EV credit once every 3 years. I found out today that is on used and that I will qualify for tax credit which will pay for my FSD at 7k. Giving Tesla some time to work out bugs and possibly improve battery chemistry may be a benefit to waiting on CT. All in all I wish I could take the FS but the AWD once available without the FS 20k will make most sense for me now.

After reading @KenpoJo post above I texted my Tesla rep assisting me with the FS order to test his findings. Keep in mind my order was placed on 1/9/2024 and do not have vin at this time. I received a text reply from my rep within 10 minutes lettings me know my order was changed to AWD non FS.

This is a relief and for anyone rethinking your decision for a FS I would recommend this route before cancelling and loosing your downt and place inline.

At what point can you still downgrade? How does it work? I just saw the option to "start designing" and literally froze in my seat.?‍?️??

I don’t think this is true for me. I got my invite email today and I ordered and called Tesla. They had to put my on hold and ask management. They said you cannot change to a non-Foundation. You can only delay the Foundation.
At least that’s what they told me.

I would if I could. They called me last week and I spoke with a guy named Richard. The rest of the communication has been through text message and I am not sure it is one person answering. I feel like it is a group. I am taking everything said with a grain of salt. Either way, I might still order the FS but that feeling changes by the hour with me. Such a cool looking truck but so many disappointing details and worries about being the first group to be the Guinea pig.
