Of course. Even more, I would have preferred he never got distracted by Twitter and made the stupid offer to buy it in the first place. Unfortunately he made a bad deal and was legally forced to go through with it. Ultimately the blame rests with himself for stepping out of his lane. He has ability as an engineer and visionary, he has no abilities to run social media.

How could he do it in a "non-threatening" way without risking it?

First, there is no evidence that he really requires greater control over Tesla, that's something he just said. Do we see him any less in control of the company, other than his own distractions with other businesses? Second, he could have made a similar statement without the threat of taking AI and robotics away from Tesla. Third, if there is any more doubt about it being a threat, it's quite clear that's how it was understood:

Today if he gets a commission plan that 10x the market cap from today’s valuation and he gets paid trillions I will sign up again. It doesn’t matter the amount or who came up with this proposal or who is in director chair. It’s irrelevant. If majority owners like this proposal it’s our decision. Hiding behind the $$ or who is independent is a red herring. Lawyer speak for jack. Nice try to redirect argument to something that has no bearing on the substance of what’s being violated here. As share holders we have the right to democratically approve or deny major company decisions. No matter who brings them forth. And our majority decision cannot be overruled by a shareholder with 9 votes. No freaking way. The only stupid here is Kathleen.

BTW, If such a thing is upheld, in future, If a Delaware judge again overturns shareholder votes, those very shareholders could sue the company for not having the foresight of moving out of Delaware beforehand.

I quite liked the 2024 Stockholder meeting and how EM slid straight into lots of the "reasons" why he was happy for the shareholder support of his overall mission, including Optimus and AI/FSD, both very profitable for Tesla shareholders here on earth, and most importantly essential for first wave of Mars colonisation.

Let the good times continue for Tesla with EM....hopefully without more distractions from detractors of the mission who re only in it, or against it, for making money.

Good to see that sanity prevailed and both the previously agreed on compensation for Elon and the move to Texas were approved by wide margins. Some distractions eliminated. Great shareholder meeting BTW.
