Does anyone know if it’s possible for the seat heaters to only heat the back? I know it’s not a feature currently, but is this something that I can disconnect the bottom seat portion and only have the back support heat?

I have a bad back, so I like having the seat warmer on, But I don’t need my butt to get hot ha ha. I noticed in my friend’s Escalade that it has the option to select back, bottom, or both. I wish Tesla had this, but not sure if it’s wired in series and they can’t ever make a feature update for this feature. Or if I can simply disconnect something in the seat?

Any ideas? Thanks.

Right? But how and where to do this I think is the question.

Sounds like it’s time for someone (else) to perform an exploratory surgery on their seat.

Unfortunately, not easily. The two heater sections are wired in series so it would require bypassing the seat element with a similar resistance of sufficient power handling capacity.
Even then, the temperature control is based on the seat temperature, so the NTC would need relocated also.

One *could* cross wire the left and right seat cushions such that driver's back is linked to passenger's bottom...

damn this seems more complicated than I hoped. Wonder why this was never considered in the design to add a more “luxury” feature without really much more parts or cost.

Because putting them in series reduces wiring and controllers by alot. Tho it raises failure conditions.

But throwing a resistor in if there's a connector at each end wouldn't be impossible.

That works if you want to bypass back heating. The seat is where the temperature sensor is. Bypassing that would likely cause an overheat event and/or module fault due to lack of sensor value change.

Ahh, you'd have to move or bypass the sensor as well. Hmm. Not impossible, but an additional thing to think about.
