Think about these tangible possibilities. If someone with that much money to throw away wanted a Cybertruck, they could easily game the system in a very smart and legal way.

All they have to do, is offer the price of the Cybertruck, with conditions of hiring the original owner as their driver/chauffeur for a year for an additional $300K, with a promise to keep registration, title, and associated Tesla account for the year requirement and then actually do the sale/transfer after the one year has passed. Nothing would stop the (future) owner of the Cybertruck from driving it some too in the meantime. I'd gladly chauffeur someone around for a year in a Cybertruck if given $300K, and I think many others would too.

So that would be a total of $400K paid for an earlier VIN Cybertruck. But the lucky original owner/chauffeur who sold it would've ordered a second one or even an additional Tesla with all of that money, and still be able to take delivery of another one maybe a few months after their year of 'service' was up.

So anyone paying nearly $600K for a Cybertruck risking a ban from Tesla support, warranty, and future purchases is really a fool, especially when they could do the above staying legal with Tesla's terms even for a third less money.

How is this possible? I've seen several listings - are they just betting Tesla isn't actually going to pursue them legally?
At that price, Tesla can sue any which way they can.

Besides, none of those no-resale court cases succeeded and found to be restraint of commerce and ownership is absolute when fully and no real damage to original seller is demonstrated.

The only relief against first buyer is to blacklist him.

Sandy is such an amazing guy! Of all the people, you think someone like him who has been deeply into the ICE world would be the last person to flip, but apparently he is not. I think this is what experience and knowledge does to people. They see real potential of EVs based on science and data, especially for Tesla. I have seen few YouTubers, especially those who have been in the traditional car world, trashing Tesla/CT big time. These are the guys who just go with what they “feel” and twist facts to fit their “feelings”, like this one -

Has he? Have not seen anything on the CT from him, usually he gets stuff out pretty quickly.
Agreed. I took me a minute to find the interview where he made the announcement again and it’s seemed pretty quiet since. Maybe they’re all knee deep in SS panels, castings and 48V wiring ?.

I’m looking forward to their CT breakdown videos. I’m sure they’ll milk as many as possible out if that truck.

Yea with the interest right now I am surprised they have put nothing out, makes more sense to put out 80 little videos than one 4 hour long breakdown, expected something by now.

Imagine being an A-List actor or the CEO of a large company, earning $12M/yr. Maybe Keanu Reeves or the CEO of Tyson Chicken. Then imagine that your house(es?) are all paid off so your bills don’t add up to much relatively speaking. After taxes that’s like $600k/mo income. Imagine that you’ve never even heard of the Cybertruck until this month, but now you want one and you don’t feel like waiting in line.

Not put yourself back in your own shoes, not that person’s. If you could get a Cybertruck today for only one month’s worth of your after-tax income would you go for it? YOLO! ?
