Order details? Timing, etc?

I can't remember all the details... here is what I recall...
-Order the Truck the following morning of CT unveil.
- I was in the first batch of invite when Tesla first started the FS order, and immediately accepted the invite.
-I fcuked around trying to get the CT before 12/31/2023 and moved my delivery location to CA, and Texas. On the eve of 12/31 realizing that there is NFW I'll be getting my Section 179 deduction for CT 2023, I changed my delivery location back to Oregon
-This morning I was asked to pay for my CT and I did so after calling Salem Delivery Center confirmed that my CT is on the Interstate between Tecsux to Salem.

Will pick up when the CT arrives. getting a lil excited.. but watever.. back to regular scheduled program. Life goes on..

Nice, when did you get your VIN? They tell you when to expect it? I have been told “early March.”

No idea.. I wasn't even looking at my Tesla Apps. Didn't ask... I suppose it will be here when it gets here....

Tigard? MIne is going to Salem. Are you sure Tigard is a CT delivery center (not all Tesla Centers are CT sites).

Ya, I’m sure about Tigard. Initially it said Vancouver but it updated to Tigard a while back.

Nice! I guess it takes time to get out of Texas with whatever rail yard it sits at. Mine is supposed to arrive at Tigard late this week, with delivery likely next week, unless they can magically prep it fast for me.

I don't think TESLA uses rail for shipment. It's always 3 CT (max) on a trailer.

To that extent, the CT is trucked to CA and reloaded with a mixture of 3 CT and Tesla cars and then trucked out to PNW, north bound on I-5

I do wonder about the shipping. Also, since its by truck for at least the final stretch, I wonder if colder weather states were held until March, hoping for better conditions on average.

I dont think that is the case... The CT is created as a "separate division" of Tesla and the delivery process is handled by the designated CT deloivery centers. To that extent, roll-out has to do with their internal capacity to tool, train and service the CT team.

Certainly, the CT sweetspot is going to be CA, AZ and TX. and NOT RI, MN, MT

A Tesla employee in Portland specifically mentioned rail being used. I think it's used at some point in Texas to get them out of Austin, but later obviously placed on a truck and driven up I5.

@greggertruck might have a better idea of how rail is used.

Glad to hear Salem is a destination center. Patiently or impatiently (depending on the moment) waiting for my vin to pop

It seems some employees are willing or able to get a bit more info than others. If you have ever received a text from Tesla, try texting that number and asking if they know when it will arrive at the delivery center. I have pinged them a few times since I got my VIN on the 18th and they do have the ability to see a bit more info.
