It was corrected, the owner crashed it.Wow…. waited 4+ years to get it and someone else totaled it. Crazy. For his sake I hope he’s a VIP or has $250,000 to get another one. ?
I agree with @JBee, I’d walk whatever distance I had to before I’d let a complete stranger drive it. Shit, my wife doesn’t even want friends or family driving it! ?
Did the valet even have any experience driving CT’s before the owner just handed it over?
Right. I saw the update. That makes it 1000X’s worse IMO. If he’s lucky it’s totaled but good luck getting another one.It was corrected, the owner crashed it.
The parking "sensor" system is not currently activated on cybertrucks. Just like when they removed the ultrasonic sensors in favor of tesla vision on the 3/y, and those just didn't have the parking alert function for months. So auto braking didn't work in this case or some other "issue"?
No current vehicle will stop the driver from doing something stupid. It can only warn them.So auto braking didn't work in this case or some other "issue"?
I'm not sure if that's true. I mean, generally, a car may not prevent every screw up at every speed. But there are definitely many vehicles that will apply the brakes for you in a parking situation where you are getting too close to an obstacle in either forward or reverse. Not sure if it was an F-150 or a Suburban, but someone I know was definitely saved from backing into a telephone pole by a parking system. No current vehicle will stop the driver from doing something stupid. As long as we don't have Level 5 autonomy, the driver has to be able to override the vehicle.

Yea but the Cybertruck currently doesn't have any FSD/Autopilot stuff, which my guess is would have potentially prevented this, or reduced the damage significantly.I'm not sure if that's true. I believe my model Y would apply the brakes as well if I tried to get too close to something. I'm sure if I floor it, I can eventually make it do something dumb, but it would fight me at least a little.
They will not stop you, however. As the driver, you can override them. Usually by stomping on the gas (which is kind of a dumb override, if you think about it.)I'm not sure if that's true. hes a smart manJay Leno said in the last Cybertruck video he did..."I don't let anyone VALET my vehicles." He went on to say that he will ask them if he can park it himself and he still will tip them. Then he said, "If it is VALET ONLY, they don't get my business and I just eat somewhere else."
