I don't know that I've seen any january vins assigned in the northeast. Only in states where they've sent more than a couple like CA, TX, FL, UT, AZ... took delivery yesterday ?so I visited the Tesla Dealership today and went hunting for VIN numbers on the 4 CyberTrucks they’ve had sitting on their lot for the last 10 days. I received my VIN on February 13th and haven’t heard a peep from Tesla. I was able to confirm my VIN number matched one of the 4 where the VIN is above the drivers door.
I went into the dealership to claim my CyberTruck and they expressed that Tesla doesn’t notify them of anything. They are basically waiting for people to come in and claim their trucks from the appointment times. They also shared that the trucks are difficult to clean, interior/exterior and take a couple hours. Pick up times and days are based on cleaning availability. So mine is scheduled for Tuesday March 5th in the evening.
That being said, the lesson here is to make a trip to the dealership a few days after you receive your VIN and see if it matches one of the vehicles on the lot. The sales people will likely tell you to wait until you can make an appointment on the App, but that may take more time. You’re better off, seeing if you VIN matches above the door and if it does, then alerting them.
Because cleaning is a challenge, there may be some hesitation from Tesla Dealers to actually deliver the vehicles and thus they probably wait until a customer claims one.
