I live in the mountains, and uneven wear is going to happen, front to back. You're coming down, and all the weight goes forward. Or the curvy roads - they're not evenly curvy because geology or drainage.Yes it's a very heavy truck and if you want any mileage out of the tires you need to rotate them.
And that's before you find that over-a-thousand miles that giant wheel has rotated over five hundred times per mile so over 6000 miles that's three and a half million rotations rubbing ever so slightly less than visible to a microscope amount adds up.
So yeah, it seems stupid, but it's important.
