with the latest update the auto wipers mode has been added. But after a few drives I ended up disabling it, at least for now. Sometimes it does the right thing, but way too often it is just plain wrong. Worst part is that it is wrong in both directions - sometimes it refuses to do anything in the pouring rain (bearable - I can click the wiper manually) and at other times it starts wiping like crazy for hardly any reason at all (maybe there was a puff of drizzle) and that is more of a problem as it screeches and hard to turn off.
I do not have other cars with automatic wipers (tesla or otherwise), so not sure how this compares.
Hope then can fix it with software update

100% a big disappointment for me as well. Same issue. Just doesn't work. I also have a big issue with Defogger. when I turn it on it foggs up my windshield and entire cabin windows for 30 seconds first. I've had to plan ahead and pull over for it to defog. Dangerous at the least. Going to Tesla tomorrow to have truck inspected for other issues as well. Issues keep adding up.

Ha ha, you aren't kidding. It's so bad. For me, the wiper kept getting stuck in the DOWN position across the hood of the car. I had to manually turn them on, after turning off auto, to get it to come back up. But, to be fair, my early VIN M3 had the same issues but they worked it out eventually. Still wasn't great, but at least useable.

This is intended behavior. The wiper pushes water down during the down stroke, and it stays down to keep that water from running back up the windshield. This happens whether in auto or a constant speed setting.

Ohhh! Wow. The more you know. I was worried about it killing range but I guess I wasn't patient enough to let it come back on its own. Good to know. Thanks!

My Model 3 was like that initially but got a software update along the way and now it works great and I love it. They may refine it through AI with enough real world data.

I turned on auto but it hasn't rained enough yet to really test it. I never had a problem with auto wipers on my Model Y.

Ya, auto wipers are bad for me.
Anyone else’s Cybertruck leave a smear in the water right in your line of sight when the wipers go back and forth? I heard there may already be a revision to the Cybertruck wiper blade. Wonder if I have V1.

Thank you for your service early adopters.
100%. enjoying this beast! All will have problems and will get worked out. So far I'm enjoying this monster in the mountains at work and on the California coast. What a dream ride it is! #earlyres #vin1600.

My 2017 S, does the same crap. It’s so annoying. I tried all sorts of ways. I even did a bug report. I have a ram 2500. I think it’s also 2017. It has the absolute best wipers system. It’s almost like one drop of anything gets on the windshield and it wipes it once. It works very well.

It is well documented that the auto wipers in Teslas are horrible because a camera and software is used instead of a sensor = less parts and cost.

My 2018 model three is no different. Auto wiper ineffective for the most part

Too bad it is still not fixed, especially on their most expensive vehicle. Hey Tesla, pony up for the sensor or figure out the software.

Great, good to know the BAW auto setting will be just as craptastic as auto wipers in my models S from 7 years ago and my model 3
