Powershare now able to be put on hold, per my installer

Got an email from my powershare installer today who said that tesla has added a way to put the powershare install "on hold" in the database. My order is now on hold, pending when I move and contact my installer. I had originally asked for this and the guy didn't think it would be possible.

Anyone who is in a similar situation, might be worth reaching out to your installer again now.

My quote for Powershare installation is over $7k. I'm trying to calculate the ROI of using the truck like 8 powerwalls to buy power at night and use it during the day. I never get close. My truck charges at 13 miles per hour today so that be a welcome increase (my 3P was 22-24 mph), but we never get blackouts here (maybe once every 2 years). Included in the $7k, to be fair, is a panel upgrade from 100 amp to 200 amp. I already have 26 panels of Tesla solar but no house battery.

As I understand it. Tesla is giving $700 to those with Powerwalls and any Tesla wall connector. And those with no place to install the equipment (universal wall connector $620 & a gateway ~$1,500)
So $700 (possibly Tesla’s cost) in leu of $2,120 of equipment.

This may be better served as a separate thread, but I hooked up the truck to my generator outlet today. Over the past couple years, I have upgraded almost every light in the house to LED with the exception of a couple. I was really happy to see that having a lot of appliances and devices running, including TVs, WiFi, Ring cameras, lots of connected light switches, etc., my drain never exceeded 2.2kWh at its peak when garage and gate were both moving at the same time. After running it for 20 min, it declined ~20%.

(I do have a smaller 2 ton HVAC for one room that I think will be able to operate as well, but I didn’t have time to test it out.)

One thing I wish I could do is monitor the load from the app. I can see it on screen in the truck, but it would be really helpful to see it in the app. Maybe there’s a way to do it and I just couldn’t find it.

This is what I want to do and have an electrician scheduled. I posted a video of something I am guessing is similar in another thread.

There are safe, code approved ways to do this without using a gateway and the ridiculous mandatory installer gouge.

Suspect this is thread worthy as you explore and detail your set up as possible.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if Tesla will give us the choice of the $700 voucher or 6 months free supercharging if we decline the Powershare installation (and would prefer to not even get a quote)? I have a whole home generator and would only be interested in Powershare if I later decide to go solar w/Powerwalls. I'd prefer to just take the voucher.

That is what the vast majority of owners are going to end up doing. The powershare is a bit of a mess and WAY to expensive for what you get, even if you have Tesla equipment, this will end up being the standard install.

I agree Regarding safety. It’s a bit mechanical having to do it yourself, but oh well. The idea I can get my gate open and restore fridges/freezers is huge.

Sorta. The survey instructions which arrived after I made the post indicated the following:

• If I indicated that I was not interested in Powershare they would give me 6 months supercharging credits. To do that the first question in the survey was to indicate Yes or No regarding interest.
• If I filled out the survey and my home is eligible and I have an estimate drawn up I can etiher accept the contractor bid for installation of Powershare or decline the bid and will receive the $700 voucher approx. 2 weeks after delivery.
• If I filled out the survey and it was determined I was not eligible it said I'd get the supercharging credit

So it appears that to get supercharging credit say not interested in the survey or hope your home isn't eligible.
